If someone has sold twenty items and still has a few more available, I
want to know how many were sold recently, and whether that seller has
raised or lowered their price. All of this was viewable till recently.
Yesterday and today I bought US coins, which are exempt from sales tax
in IL and most other states. Both of these items had separate shipping
costs. Ebay wants me to pay 7.5% IL sales tax on the shipping cost. I've
never seen this. Is it a bug, or so...
I know it's been present for a couple of years, and always thought they
were useless clutter, like half of the stuff ebay has done in the last
ten years. Am I alone in believing that showing 'Reviews' in a coin
listing is stupid? For example, I'm loo...
I'm convinced they have a team of people who spend every day trying to
justify their continued employment by ruining one thing after another,
for the last 15 years.

It's brand new to me this month. I buy coins all the time and until very
recently my purchases, with explicit shipping charges, had no sales tax
at all. Half the items I buy have "free" shipping so I'd escape this
phantom tax.
Evidently you don't realize that ebay pockets about 12.5% in fees from
the sale price and from shipping charge. That seller is lucky to receive
$16.10 net, from that $18.40 shipping charge you paid. If you think it's
so easy and profitable to sell on...
