It's annoying as hell. He obviously sold it off site to one of other other bidders (there was quite tge bidding war). Is there a point addressing this issue to Ebay? Can/will they do anything?

This is incorrect. As a buyer myself, i have asked sellers who had ebay's program to re send the invoice after the auction. And they did.
