ebay unfair to sellers

why does ebay have such distain for its sellers. Up untill 4 weeks ago I was a top rated seller with 100% feedback (1150 transactions) then I made the mistake of selling to low rated buyers (little or now feedback), at which point I recieved 2 neutral and 1 neg feedback, one was for dust in the bottom of a vase, second was not as described shoe size, when detailed measurements were provided, and my favorite was not shipping to a non verified address, all resulted in my calling customer (non) support, at which time I was denied any resolution, now as a result my seller rating was lowered and my funds are pending on paypal. So I removed all of my listings, canceled my current active auctions and will be moving on, I am sorry I wasted 4 years of my time thinking ebay was great, when it is a terrible environment for sellers, and the people who make policy should be terminated. Just type ebay unfair to its sellers in Google and look at the thousands of complaints. I will be making it my mission to trash ebay on every venue possible, and I will be in good company, also paypal is a joke, 4 years of flawless transactions and they put my funds on hold?????????????????????

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

I share your sentiments. I noticed flaws in the bag I sold And canceled the sale and returned the buyers money. I got a negative feedback even after I told the buyer that the bag was not up to my standards. What the hell????

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

Thats right!  You seller you. You are the only ones wide open for negative feedbacks. You seller you. Shame on you for trying to sell on ebay. And just for that? We're goung to give you a negative feedback. Its not about the quality of your product. Its about how much ebay can profit off of you. And you took your auction back down making ebay lose. And PAYPAL profited twice. You recieve the money? Then you would have to return the money.

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

I have been an eBay member since 2004, first as a Buyer and after I retired, strictly as a Seller. Most recently I had a buyer purchase two greeting cards. The weight of both cards did not exceed the weight limit for one card, so I combined shipping and gave her a full shipping refund for one of the cards. After only one week she asked me if I had mailed the cards. I mailed the cards the same day that payment was received and told her so in an email I send every buyer immediately after a package has been shipped. She told me she had not received one of the cards. After another two days, she opened a case with eBay. I told her that both of the cards were mailed together and that she should have received both of the cards. I asked her if she received the second card (the one that I gave a full shipping refund for) and she did not reply. I called eBay and was informed that even though she threated to leave negative feedback, I had no other option but to give her a full refund including shipping. I am an honest seller but have learned that too many buyers are not. This buyer got two cards for the price of one and free shipping.  The person I spoke to at the eBay call centre, which is now in the Phillipines, told me that buyers can leave negative and neutral feedback for sellers for any reason whatsoever. How come sellers cannot leave anything but positive feedback for buyers?

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

Because ebay did a survey on buyers and ask what is their biggest reason they stopped or wanted to leave ebay. And the biggest reply was they get negative feedbacks WHEN THEY DONT PAY! Well duh !. So ebay wants the sellers to take the lick when buyers decide not to pay. Figuring that we make so much money selling we can afford to wait? And sell it another time? Crazy but yup. But ebay has a non payment rule. After so many they are banned from bidding. I remember putting " if you have negat. feedback for non pay? Do not bid. We cant do that now.

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

That was what i was told. They figure the sellers are stuck . where as the buyers can go elsewhere.? But the fact is if you buy coins? Theres no place cheaper than ebay. If ebay folded ? The coins would spike up in price by 50% .

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

I have a Shopify ecommerce store and last week received an announcement stating they had partnered with eBay to list my Shopify products on eBay Sales Channel. The announcement stated that all of my current Shopify products would be listed on eBay with no listing fees for fixed price items. All of my products are fixed price, so I thought this was a good idea - I could list all 13,000 of my products free on eBay. After publshing 250 of the products to eBay, I got a ton of emails from eBay telling me that my products were now available, but they charged me .30 cents listing fee for each product. I decided to immediately delete them from my eBay account so I wouldn't be charged for them. I was told that I couldn't delete the products until I paid the fees first. After waiting on hold for some time, I finally reached a live person who told me to pay the fees and she would then "request permission" to delete my products and close my account. She then told me that if eBay grants me permission to close my account, it would take another 30-60 days before my account is closed, to make sure no other charges showed up. Beware of eBay, it is quicksand and sucks you under with no chance of escaping without hidden financial costs.

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

Yea my other favorite is " list items today and get no listing fees?  And for you to list 1000's? Unless your good with math and watch every auction penny by penny? I'm sure ebay is throwing  extra charges in there. Any profit i make goes to ebay because they are so expensive.

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

So I came here because I've been selling my boss' extra inventory for a while now, went up to Top rated seller and lost it after few days because their opinion is late shipping rate 3.02%, then I go dig in and is late delivery instead, I ship out every single day and it's my fault when usps delivers late, ok,  anyway beside this cherry on top of the cake, I've had few instances in the last 2 years selling in another account dealing with dishonest buyers, calling back and forth customer service, what I can say is that the guys on the other side only follow guidelines and they're totally Pro Buyer, so the buyer can get away with it easily. Now my question is, with all these complaints and sellers leaving ebay, do Ebay in charge people even giving a d**** cause we can post all we want but the situation doesn't seem to change, at least from my perspective. It's frustrating seeing that no matter the efforts we put in to be in line with the rules we are always going to be "punished" for something, always!

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

You cant depend on ebay to get it right for you. Just take care of your buyers. Ebay gave me a missed point or 2 for shipping because the U.S mail didnt scan a package? And yet i watch the tracking of my packages and no such thing ever happened. Then another time said there was NO tracking. ? BULL***t yes there was. A seller take so much time making the auctions then lose money on the sale. Then wrap the packages then go to the P.O. to ship. All this time spent for the buyers and Ebay just sits back and collects any profit that you made and makes up SH** you did wrong? I get my fun out of describing my auctions. Trying to have fun in the hobby i like. I know i am going to lose money every time i sell. So i can't let ebay from India let me down..

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

Their Customer Service is located in the Phillippines, not India. I most certainly never call them again. I just get the runaround and then told to "Smile today". I am still listing what inventory I have left on eBay but am not acquiring new items. I had one buyer tell me he would let me know WHEN he doesn't receive his package. I gave him the tracking number and that seemed to satisfy him. I am just sick and tired of all the scamming buyers and eBay's "I don't care" attitude.

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

Oh Philippine,  ok i knew it wasnt American thats for sure.

.. Thats right the buyers have all the rights. Because you are a seller at this Ebay institution. You are not a seller of your own stuff when you enter in to Ebay. You own your stuff is correct. But Ebay is going to tell you that "your stuff" is now their property while you are in their institution? I have got lucky so far. But if buyets did come on here to scam? They made the right choice because your going to give it to them for free and Ebay won't mind because they are not going to be out a dime... Isn't life grand?

I am in to selling coins and i like the hobby but there is no money in it. Too much competition on ebay. Somebody will always be a dollar cheaper. ... Then after you give it away on sale ? You get to package it and ship it then cross your fingers that the buyer truly wants the item. And hope for god sake that the mailman scans your tracking .. If not? Ebay will put a blemish in your sales rating.. Got to love it!

Because those **bleep**s think they are a store and the buyers are the customers they don't think the sellers are actual individual people

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

When trying to make the stock holders happy--every dollar counts even yours no matter how they do it.

Not just E bay--all companies must find a way to keep stock holders investing--the nature of the beast for any company that has stock holders.

Re: ebay unfair to sellers

Well sure, they got stock holders and computer technicians and employees they have to pay as with all businesses.  But without the product " the sellers" there would be no reason for buyers to come to this market and spend?. So i say... Ebay take care of your sellers.
