As of March 21, 2025, new tariffs on goods produced in Canada or Mexico and sold to US buyers, valued at US$800 or more, are in effect, impacting eBay sales, with eBay prioritizing seller information and compliance.

You don't have to "sacrifice your mental health" to stand up for democracy.

Also, I'm not sure if I even OWN anything worth $800 (except for my house), much less shopping stuff like that out online. 🤤

Exactly, but you DO have to recharge batteries. Whatever is worth fighting for, is worth being rested and ready at 100% to do so.

I was planning to recharge the batteries in my Tesla Cybertruck, but then pieces of the body started falling off. Apparently they were using cheap glue, like on those wedding invitation envelopes that Costanza bought. I find this very stressful.

When you're telling people to relax about authoritarianism, try it without trolling on how the authoritarian might ignore the Constitution.

Not enough glue.

Maybe Tesla gets its glue from Canada, and can't afford it anymore.

Opposing authoritarianism is doing something you can control. As opposed to just ignoring the obvious, which is what authoritarians count on most people doing. At least they have you in line.
What are you specifically doing that actually will make a change? How are you opposing authoritarianism and how are you making a difference? Would really like to know @hartungcards

Well for starters I'm not minimizing the inherent dangers of this buffoon on discusion boards and I'm drinking a lot of bleach because I heard that cures anything. Beyond that, I'll keep you posted on my personal life for the next 7 years or more.

Exactly. You are doing nothing but adding fear to those who actually believe the sky is falling.
Hate is the lack of imagination.

You don't have the slightest idea what I'm doing, and my two cents on the subject could hardly add any more to the justifiable fears that people with any common sense already have.

You are doing nothing to make a difference. Nothing! Snarky posts on a community board are hardly considered serving your country. 😂 Thank you for your service. 😂
Do better or do something!

Hi everyone,
This discussion has gotten a bit off-topic. Please bring the discussion back to the subject established in the original post.
Thank you.

Supposedly, the Smoot–Hawley Tariff Act of 1930 did not have its intended effect and it was repealed the following year.
Here are some things I intend to study to confirm or dismiss the above assertion. I encourage you to study them.

Here are the facts about bring manufacturing back to the Cleveland, OH area.
a) Most of the Great Lakes freighter ships are approaching the end of their 80 year lifespan. Many have been scrapped in recent years. One has been built in the past 40 years and entered service in 2024. We don't have the ships required to transport an increased amount of iron ore, limestone, etc.
b) Half of the steel mill land, the portion on the west side of the river, has been sold and redeveloped.
c) The Chrysler stamping plant has been redeveloped and is occupied.
d) The Ford stamping plant has been partially redeveloped with partial occupancy.
e) The Ford engine plant is barely operating and 175 acres were just sold to build an NFL stadium.
f) The Chevrolet stamping plant and GM plant are barely operating and have been partially redeveloped.
Those plants had 14,000 to 17,000 workers each at their peak.
During the previous administration, there was a 30+ month stretch of unemployment below 4% nationally. That hasn't happened since the 1960's.
In summary, we don't have the ships, factories or labor (70,000 to 85,000) to reboot manufacturing. Maybe the rich can use automation or robots instead of workers. Then again, robots don't buy cars. It would take X number of years to reboot manufacturing. Businesses like to operate with certainty. Will companies invest knowing that the tariffs may disappear in 45 months, or less?

Those things are so darn ugly they SHOULD be the Edsel of these times.
