eBay app doesn't work- need to make changes to business type

Hi.  When I set up our store, I listed the business type as sole proprietor but that was incorrect.  It is actually a corporation.  I need to change this in my account but the eBay program won't let me do this.  When I try the edit button, the only option I have is to confirm the business type.  I've called support numerous times, where I am told to click on the confirm button & I can change it after that.  This does not work.  eBay has been holding our funds for MONTHS because we will not provide a picture of a driver's license online (for sole proprietor) or they are demanding that we provide our bank username & password through the eBay app.  Hell no!  I've tried entering our Fed ID number in the space for the social security number but that doesn't work either.  Can someone help me?  So tired of talking to lying support people in India!!

As far as I know, there is only one chance to modify your account type from business to personal, and that is when first enrolling in Managed Payments. The opposite (converting from personal to business) is possible during, or after, enrolling in Managed Payments, but not prior to enrollment.

I have both corporate and personal accounts. The corporate accounts are not allowed to change type. However, one personal account does have an "edit" button and a "confirm" button that will take me to the screens where I can declare a corporation.  The probable difference between your setup and mine is that I have already verified my personal account, and you have not.  My unenrolled personal accounts do not have the ability to switch.

I would recommend going forward with the personal account verification. Then you will likely be able to convert to a corporate account. On the corporate account, you will still need the full SSN and DOB of a stakeholder, so you'll probably still be giving up your personal info, even for a corporation.

However, please note that eBay treats a single-member LLC like a sole proprietor in that the SSN of the proprietor will be used for a 1099-K.

Thank you for trying to help.  I am trying to change the info from a sole proprietor to a corporation.  It was set up wrong initially.  eBay should change their app to accommodate this action as it is a real world situation.  Just another way eBay sucks.

Yes, I do understand that you are trying to change from sole proprietor (individual account) to corporation (legal identity).  Perhaps I was not clear enough.

You may need to complete your enrollment as a sole proprietor by providing your identifying information.  I can't guarantee this will get you past the roadblock, but it conforms to my testing two years ago, to what staff has suggested, and to what I currently encounter.

I am not able to edit my sole proprietor (individual) account types that have not completed Managed Payment identity info. However, I am able to change my account that is already enrolled in Managed Payments (and I provided screenshots to show that).

If you complete your identity info as an individual (don't need a bank account at this point), you should be able to change your account type from personal to corporation.

The screen shots are to show you what to expect once you get past the "confirm" button that is currently blocking forward progress.

As mentioned before, you will still need to provide your personal SSN, DOB, and contact info as a corporation stakeholder.
