Scraping Customer Review Text

Dear Developers,

I would like to retrieve customer review text data from eBay for academic purposes, since there is (from my knowledge) no API function to retrieve them, I would love a perceive a permission for extraction as the robots.txt from eBay is NOT blocking customer reviews. Is there any way to gather these reviews besides scraping and if not, who do I contact for further permission?

This is a user forum, for users to help each other with eBay issues. Posting here is not a way to contact eBay customer service.

The eBay User Agreement specifically bans all users from doing several things, including: 

• harvest or otherwise collect or use information about users without their consent.

I hope that eBay will enforce that, in this case. You should not be allowed to collect that information. That is probably why there is no API call to do it.
