We want to help our sellers take advantage of holidays and other retail moments that can really help their businesses grow. Below are some resources, like our seasonal playbook, where we provide insights we’ve gathered about buyer behaviors and trends, as well as other tips like managing social marketing to help drive sales. Our Customer Marketing Strategist, Jen Deal, also stopped by the eBay for Business Podcast to go over eight best practices for increased sales. We also provided a link to a course from our Seller School which specifically goes over how to create a strong product mix for retail moments.

Hmmm, Seasonality s one thing. Allowing sellers to keep unsold seasonal items inactive for more than 90 days makes a lot of sense, yet we can't. The time limit needs to be at least 270 days so that the unsold listings don't disappear months before the holiday rolls around again.

The seasonal playbook provides no retail calendar. A good retail calendar should be provided with all the major holidays, and, this being ebay, it absolutely should include dates related to pop culture and sports as well. (I know those dates are subject to change during Covid, but even just tentative dates would be helpful). Examples: Movie memorabilia probably does well when the Academy Awards roll around, or when a big new film is released. Sports championship games are good. And significant anniversaries (2021 marks fifty years since Stairway to Heaven was released, 75 years since It's A Wonderful Life was released....) Having this information readily available in the Seasonal Playbook would help sellers plan ahead and help them with their sourcing strategies.
And it wouldn't hurt if ebay provided some actual seasonal data from Terapeak or its own database. For example: What stuff sells better in Spring than it sells the rest of the year?
And also, ebay itself runs various ad campaigns , how about at least a little advance notice...ebay has a special Andy Warhol thing going right now....if we had known that was coming, some of us might have at least tried to source Warhol biographies, or prints etc....let us grab onto your coattails by giving us some advance info about stuff like that....

Echoing the above......when is Mother's Day, Father's Day this year?......and don't forget "seasonal" brick and mortar traditional items......May is white sale time, sheets, pillowcases, etc. Some people still shop by that.......
Where is "Christmas in July"...on the calendar? When do swimsuit/beach items hit the peak? Spring? where is the gardening stuff?.......August, canning.........
Frankly, this is just pitiful for spring:
Retail trends
Know your customer - the Pandemic has increased online shopping among older consumers (Ages 56-74) – particularly in popular eBay categories such as pet supplies, and clothing. (source: NRF)
Home and Garden was the fastest growing ecommerce category in 2020 increasing from $1.21 at the end of 2019 to $1.84 billion today. (source: Statista)
Big and getting bigger – the share of Consumer Electronics bought online globally, is forecast to grow 14% by 2023.

Is "Jen Deal" really the person's real name?
Just asking because every time I've called customer service and got a female on the phone, she said her name was "Jen".
Just sounds like an obvious fake name for a retail site.
Oh and instead of a seasonal playbook, how about common sense dealing with sellers instead of trying to tell them to register for your "seller school"..
One month of selling on here tells sellers more than they need to know. 😄

Jen is married to Jake from State Farm.
Again, how about letting unsold items stick around for 270 days so they can be easily relisted for correct timing.
