Just a little update to the Media Mail issue some of us have.  Not being able to create shipping labels using MM in some categories.

For me, it is the following categories.

Crafts-Beads&Jewelry Making-Instruction Books & Media

Crafts-Sewing-Quilting-Quilt Patterns

Crafts- Needlecrafts&Yarn-Crocheting&Knitting-Patterns-Contemporary

Crafts- Needlecrafts&Yarn-Embroidery&Cross Stitch-Hand Embr Patterns & Magazines-Other Patterns & Magazines

Crafts
-Needlecrafts&Yarn-Hand Embr Patterns&Magazines-Embroidery & Cross Stitch-Cross Stitch Patterns

Crafts-Scrapbooking&Paper Crafts-Instruction Books & Media

I have literally been chasing this for SEVERAL months, since they started messing with the categories that MM is allowed.  To date I keep getting promised they will fix it and to date I'm still where we started.  NO RESOLUTION at all.

Hi @mam98031 - I've heard from the shipping team on this one:

These categories will be added with the next category updates at the beginning of February.

Thanks!

I haven't received any, I always keep an eye on junk mail and none of ebay messages go to the junk file. I wouldn't be pushing it if a couple listings, its getting to be wide spread.  Not sure how they could list a buy it now with the exact wording without being kicked out.

Please send to my ebay email if you could. it would be easier.

That's odd then @tsme35 as we've sent two emails now. The first was on August 25th and the second was on October 27th. If there is another email address you'd like us to try, please provide us with that eBay accounts username, as we can only send messages to an eBay accounts registered email address.

Outside of that, you may want to check with your ISP and/or email provider, to make sure there's not some kind of automatic forwarding going on.

Always ask to check spam blockers that can also block such messages..

Area of concern. I recently sold a item. I was unaware that a user can send a message about a sold item, while it had warning on eBay message, I did not catch it later. The user was impersonating seller unless they had two accounts. The user asked to cancel or ship to another address they moved he said. I canceled order. Later realized it was from a different user. So actually contacted real buyer and explained. The buyer wants to buy again and ship to original address he said his home. This has caused incovenice for my buyer and me.. it is easy to miss a small username with mobiles and tablets. A lot of people likely don't check usernames.

I can not figure out out to report a user that contacts you to eBay, if there is no transaction.

Thanks,

Oh man! I'm so glad you caught that @waites1030. While you can't use the report a buyer flow since they aren't a buyer of your item, you can contact Customer Support to report the username and they can get the account over to the relevant team for review.

Re: Community Chat, November 10 @ 1:00 pm PT - General Topics

Hi, to everyone on the community team.

A question related to categories -- eBay has made a lot of changes to the category structure, and moved a lot of listings, a process which should now be complete according to the post I am responding to.

There is an ongoing issue with a category which has been flooded with miscategorized items for years. A member has been reporting the problem for at least 2 years, but this particular category continues to have about 50% or more items which don't belong in it.

All of the miscategorized items are from drop-shippers, so I suspect that it's a result of incorrect data from the drop-shipping supplier, which is used blindly by the sellers without bothering to check.

Here's a current thread about the problem:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Buying/hundreds-of-wrong-category-items-dumped-in-Lapidary-Tools-amp/m...

Here's a link to the category search for Lapidary tools and supplies:

https://www.ebay.com/b/Lapidary-Tools-Supplies/4843/bn_3028964

First item is a door lock, which doesn't belong. The next 5 items are in the right category.

Scroll down a bit further, here's another sample, about 50-50. 2 center console organizerss for cars, and a hand brace:

WHAT????  February, what the heck.  That is 4 months away.  That is beyond RIDICULOUS as I've already been waiting months.  By then it will be getting close to a year.

Is there someone else I can talk with in that department rather than just emailing the general address.  This is simply not acceptable.

It was suppose to have been taken care of in the last update, but they still managed to miss them.

We continue to experience issues that I believe are related to the category changes, the most challenging being that we are still not able to edit multi-variation listings. I have asked this question multiple times of multiple people in multiple locations and have not received an answer. Is there any way to know whether multi-variation listings are supported in any of the eBay Motors/Parts & Accessories categories?

Hi @jamsionline - sorry to keep you waiting, I've been looking for detail on this. I don't have any updates or talking points on this so I've reached out for more information and will update you as I hear back.

Thanks!

That's strange then @tsme35, as we're emailing the email address you noted earlier.  At this point you can send a private message on Facebook with the duplicate listings details and they can have the listings reviewed.

Hopefully that will help to get them reported since the links within the listings themselves don't seem to be doing the trick when you report them that way.

I just wanted to get some clarification on a discussion I was having on a thread a week or two ago regarding INRs.

When a buyer files an INR, the seller received an email notification of the claim being filed.  The seller has the opportunity to enter an explanation if need and a tracking number if needed.

It is my understanding that the seller is NOT required to enter an explanation and NOT required to enter a tracking number if the tracking number was previously recorded in Ebay.  Meaning the seller either created their label using Ebay or they copied the tracking number in on some date BEFORE the INR was filed.

Please verify or correct what my understanding is.

Thank you.

Hi @mam98031 - I've been looking into this but am having a hard time getting a definitive answer.

Based on the 2020 Spring Seller Update, I believe a seller would need to reply to the request within the 3 business days even if the shipping label was from an integrated carrier and purchased via eBay Labels. We made an announcement on that in June of last year (link here).

I've requested confirmation just to be certain, but from what I'm seeing here I'd always recommend replying to the request with the tracking information.

tyler@ebay

Thank you.  I know the seller needs to reply to it, but it is my understanding that we do NOT have to re-enter the tracking number if it is something that was given to Ebay BEFORE this claim was filed.

This is a sticky point for some sellers.  I tell them that if they have concern, just enter it as it doesn't hurt anything, it is just they are not required to do it if Ebay already has it.

Hi @mam98031 - I got clarification on this one:

Members  should not have to reupload the tracking number, we already pull it from the transaction data (as long as it is from an integrated carrier and the label was purchased on eBay).

That said, you should always reply to a request within 3 business days, but uploading tracking is not a requirement as long as it meets the criteria above.
