Did you mean:

Rolex didn't pass authentication, now whay.

A certified Rolex I sold. Certified by Rolex. Didn't pass Ebay's authentication process!! So it's being sent back to me. The funds were never released to me. So I asume Ebay will refund the seller from my funds.

But are the keeping the final value money?!!!! That's absolutwly crazy. The watch is 100% genuine and now I'm going to be out ovwr $500 in final value fees?

Can somebody please explain this, it's crazy. What will Ebay do, decuct it from my bank account? I never received the funds from the sale. As they were on hold until the watch was authenticated. But it failed, so the watch is being sent back to me. And the buyer will get a refund.

But are Ebay gong to charge me final value fees. Take the money out of my bank account.
Case amountCase amount $6,642.40
On hold amount $6,089.72
Order amount held from payouts.

When I have had a buyer refunded the fees were used to make a portion of the refund with the balance coming from my portion of the buyer payment.. It may work out right for you................   once all the funds "settle".

Pretty sure you will get a credit for the fees given the buyer will be fully refunded. eBay will take the funds YOU have ($6,089.72) plus the fees you paid to refund the buyer the full amount ($6,642.40).

The buyer gets their money back

You get your watch back

eBay gets nothing for their efforts

Re: Rolex didn't pass authentication, now whay.

Thank you, but I still don't understand.

I never saw a cent from the sale, because it was being held, pending authentication. Which, even though it's certified by Rolex, it failed!

Ebay is stating that the refund will come from my funds. Which is fine, as I never recieved the funds. But I'm worried that Ebay is going to take money from my bank account to cover final value fees. Even though The buyer never received the watch and I never received the money. As the transaction ended when the watch didn't pass authentication.

Re: Rolex didn't pass authentication, now whay.

I understand you situation and I empathize with it, trust me.

But isn't it quite ironic how Rolex certifies the watch, but "authenticators" can't?

I mean, it's great to see that the authenticators are hiring disabled people. The blind need jobs too, and they are just as important as anyone else. But I'm not convinced that certifying watches is the right position.

Sometimes items sent for authentication do not fail as not authentic, but because they do not meet the "description" in the listing.

We wanted to let you know that unfortunately the authenticity of your item could not be confirmed. As a result, the order can’t be fulfilled.

Here are the notes from the authenticator about your item:

  • Unable to confirm authenticity

Here's what is next

  • We will deduct the buyer’s refund from your funds and send you a confirmation email once it’s processed.

Re: Rolex didn't pass authentication, now whay.

The reason for failing was unable to confirm authenticity.  Ebay removed the listing and gave me a warning about selling a conterfeit item. The watch was certified by Rolex. The diamnd bezel and dial were aftermarket. As stated in my listing. Now I'll be out almost $600 in final value fees. I'm devastated, as I absolutely cannot afford those fees. Unbelievable. And no way to contact Ebay for help.

I've been selling for years with 100% positive score. Above standard seller. I've sold cartier watches, David yurman jewelry. Designer shoes and bags. And now I'm out almost $600 in final value fees, because Ebay can't authenticate a genuine Rolex.

Re: Rolex didn't pass authentication, now whay.

We have credited any associated fees except for any final value fee for your listing(s).

This is a 100% certified, genuine Rolex. My own personal watch, that I had to sell, because my partner recently passed away and I need the money.  Instead I will be out amost $600, in final value fees.  This should be illegal. How can Ebay charge final value fees, when I didn't receive one cent on this failed transaction.

I'm literally in tears over this. Acused of trying to sell a fake item, when it's been certified by Rolex.  And then with holding final value fees. When I never received a cent to begin with??

You are not out the $600

As I explained previously, eBay takes the money in your account that is on hold PLUS the fees you have already paid and that is what they use to refund the buyer.

You get back the watch.

End of story.

Re: Rolex didn't pass authentication, now whay.

The diamnd bezel and dial were aftermarket.

----------------------------------------------------

Perhaps that caused it to not be authenticated by the eBay process .....................

Re: Rolex didn't pass authentication, now whay.

so you are saying that Rolex certified a watch with fake aftermarket parts on it

Rolex is not in the business of certifying watches with non genuine parts

why are you selling watches with fake parts on them and expecting them to pass authenticity

you story make no sence at all

Re: Rolex didn't pass authentication, now whay.

You can believe me, or not. Rolex certified the watch as a genuine rolex with an after market diamond bezel. They worked on it, serviced it and tightened the clasp for me. And also removed 3 links, as it was too big. My listing clearly stated that the diamond bezel was an after market addition.

I've had offers from stores that sell previously owned Rolex watches. And none of them have questioned the watch. I didn't deceive anyone. If Ebay doesn't want sellers to list watches with aftermarket diamonds added, they need to make that very clear. The watch is a genuine Rolex. Certified by Rolex when I first purchased it. I purchased it with the diamond bezel.

FYI.  There are multiple/countless listings on Ebay of Rolex watches with *after market diamond bezels and/or dials*.  Countless listings. Diamond/ruby, diamond/emerald, diamond sapphire etc. My watch/listing was no different to them. Genuine Rolex with after market diamonds.
