Why does any seller offer their customer insurance? USPS UPS and FedEx all state that they will not pay out on collectable coins or bullion. And why would a customer opt to buy insurance if the proceeds go back to the shipper and not the buyer., which isn't going to happen anyway. If the coin is lost in mailing with or without a tracking number, eBay will side with the buyer and he will be reimbursed.
If the package or envelope is lost in the mail this is what happens
Seller loses sending 1st class mail No tracking number
Seller loses sending 1st class pkg /tracking without insurance
Seller loses sending 1st class pkg /tracking with insurance USPS will deny claim on coins
Seller loses sending Priority Mail /tracking with automatic $50 insurance USPS will deny claim on coins.
If anyone has an option to protect the seller please let me know

Yes , dont say they are coins in the package as that will tempt the post office workers
or people from other countries to steal them.....Call them american souvenirs as technically they are items from the USA and therefore arer USA souvenirs......Plus if you insist on a tracking number then the only way to go is by priority mail but you know that most bidders are scrooges and dont want to pay the priority mail price....The bidders know that ebay will side with them and that is all they are interested in....I know from experience that there are many bidders that do not update their adresses in ebay when they move and how do we sellers know otherwise......Those bidders notify me and tell me it was sent to the wrong adress but i sent it to the one listed in their ebay account.....i then ring ebay california and warn them about this biodder and then they are the ones in trouble.....Personally i scan the package back and front and send a message via ebay messages to the buyer that it has been sent with the pictures in the message so it is on file for ebay to have as proof....However a lot of sellers are lazy and doint want to do that extra effort so they really have nothing to complain about......I make my bidders feel at ease and that is all i care about...have a nice day....OIO

I've read alot of discussions concerning this topic of insurance and heard alot of conflicting information;
However, fortunately, I have heard that USPS does pay out insurance on numismatic coins. For what I understand, as long as the coin is numismatic in nature and not money as in currency, they will cover it. Can anybody confirm or unconfirm this?
Cheers,
