I recently had my unopened pair of Sky Dancers removed due to a recall years ago. I was selling it as a collector's display item only.
My question is, are listings only removed when reported by members or does EBay have staff that search for restricted items?
The reason I'm asking is there are still many for sale and many that have been sold.
Thanks for listening.

@peteholden It depends, some listings are picked off by the computer system and others are reported by members who are most likely competitors.
I had an Invicta divers watch that went several months without selling ... it was called a 1959 Russian Divers Watch ... meaning Invicta (US company) made it "like" the 1959 Russian version. So I thought that maybe people think I am trying to pass it off as an authentic old watch when in fact it isn't ... so I added one word to the title, "replica" and within an 2 hours it was taken down.
I don't think eBay would pay anyone to sit and do searches on their site all day ...

More than likely, one of your competitors reported your listing and it got pulled. I would have to agree with Mr.Lincoln.
Ebay's employees would not be spending their time looking for restricted items. They have better things to do I'm sure.

I had the same thing happen to me despite there being a lot of them still listed & even more that had sold! Very frustrating! I relisted stating in the title that they were as Collectibles ONLY - still pulled it. I think any time they are looking at removing reported items, they should also look at the items for sale by the person reporting to see if they have the same things listed - then remove theirs as well.

All eBay cares about is making money off sales. I've reported dozens that continue to stay listed and are sold daily.
