Placing something in the photos of the pieces that would give us an indication of their size would help. If you think they are GI Joe pieces there were three sizes of Joe's made. The 12" - 1:6 scale, originals `64 -`78. Real American Hero series of 3.75" figures starting in 1985. In 2021 the GI Joe Classified, series of 6" figures was introduced.
You can also try doing an online search of GI Joe characters "images" to see if you can match those pieces to a character.

I found these pieces mixed in with a 2001 GI Joe Wild Bill 4" Figure.
The gun is 1 3/8" and the other piece is 1 1/8". Looked at all the G.I. Joe figures
from that time era. No luck.

The gun does have more of a blaster/ray gun look to it. Though the Real American Hero series did have some futuristic weapons, it is also possible it belongs to a completely different series of Characters. The `80s are considered the "Golden Era" of action figures and hundreds of well known, not so well known and knock off ones were made. As you've found out the "tool box" came from a Star Wars figure, and the gun could be from another series of characters as well. So it could take a long time to identify which series/character it belongs to. Action figures are not something I was into, nor were the Games, Cartoons, Comics of that era. So my knowledge of those things come from price guides, and online sources.
