Hi eBay Community,
Last year I met a woman at a local video game store. She had a huge bag of games and I told her I would pay more than the store for her collection. Long story short, we developed a buyer-seller relationship, and she always had a supply of games for me below market price.
She has since moved and I was wondering how the community sources items to sell online?
I have tried yard sales and thrift stores, but they are often hit or miss.
Recently, I have started looking into storage unit auctions, but it seems very time consuming with no guarantees. Buying from people online isn't really viable for turning a profit since everyone can just look online to see what their item is being sold for these days.
My friend had a job where she cleaned out temporary living spaces (ie. dorms, apartments, etc.), and whatever was left behind was hers to keep.
Just curious where others have found luck with buying to resell.

Sourcing online (eBay) can be a great place to find items. Many eBayers have two accounts that allow them to purchase on eBay from one eBay ID and sell on the other ID. Create saved searches (which you can have auto emailed to you daily) for items you look for and check frequently for newly listed items. I know many that buy exclusively on eBay for what they sell locally and on eBay.
Facebook and Craigslist are other places you should be watching closely for local deals.

Hello Gaming peer!
I second what @chevymontecarlo88 stated about buying on ebay. Create a saved list of games you are interested in. When those games are freshly listed you will receive an email notification. then you can obtain small amounts that way.
Facebook market place is good but games are super overpriced. and its a hassle trying to set up times to meet up, but it is a way to find some deals you just have to be on it everyday looking and texting is it still available with no response.
craiglist is a better option you canfind games cheaper than FBmarket place. I always find some good deals on craigslist.
I buy games in bulk from people at fleamarkets. Games are harder to come by now a days because every fleamarket vendor hasa scratched up xbox 360 disc they want top dollar for.
when I first started on ebay I bought from a police auction. surprisingly they had games and systems at great prices.
gamestop when they have a buy 2 get 1 free sale is a good place to pick up games.
Hit all you friends and family up there is always a few that have systems in their attic or garage and they will give them to you sometimes.
look for local auction houses in your area. thats an okay place to sometimes get a lot of games or systems.
good luck my friend the games are out there...find you conection again with another game store owner that will help you out. some games online move btter than instore games...find out which ones those are and that could help

As someone who does reselling time to time, finding video games is hard unless you had that buyer/seller relationship
I agree with the eBay idea, and always look at garage sales and goodwill stores. See if there's any mom/pop video game stores that you could work with. Best of luck!

Just remember to keep an accurate record of how much the item costs you so when ebay or your tax provider asks for invoices you have that information.

Well I don't deal in video games, but I had a friend who did and spent a lot of time driving to thrift shops and similar things.
What works for me is that I opened a brick and mortar store and advertise that I buy coins, gold etc. People bring this stuff to me and sell it to me over the counter. 90% of my sales are actually wholesale to bigger dealers, some stuff ends up on ebay. Consider opening a store to buy used video games if you can find a location that will work with your budget!
