Yesterday, Kelly died. She and two of her sons were in their home when a gas leak caused an explosion.

One son died at the scene. The other son died later. Yesterday, Kelly died.

Kelly's husband is Mike. She has two older children -- a daughter and a son.

Please pray for the comfort of the family. They are a strong Christian family.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Thank you Sweetpea! My heart is in everything regarding MaBill. Nobody could love a person anymore than I loved her.

We lived by ourselves in the big house until MaBill was 85 years old. She fell down a concrete step and broke her hip. She couldn't walk for a long time after that. We had to go live with my Mom & Dad and my younger sister in Independence, Mo. At that age she began to be able to walk but we still stayed with our family.

My Mom worked and MaBill kept house and cooked a lot of meals. I was happy since she was with me but not as happy as I was when we lived in her house alone. Dear Lord please forgive me for saying this but my Mom & Dad should have never became parents. I really believe they did not like children, not even their own. They were mean to me and ther Lord only knows why.

My Mom was an only child and was spoiled rotten. Her Mom sick and bed ridden all her life. Her Father, whom she idolized, was a contractor and had to be gone much of the time and as MaBill admitted, she spoiled her. She grew up to be a spoiled adult! My Mom never spanked me, she would hit me in the face and head with some kind of object. Many a cut lip and bruises from what she called a spanking.

I won't go on with this, I could write a book about my Mom & Dad. Just please believe me my Dad was a horrible Dad and an alcoholic to boot. I was so happy when my Mom & Dad went on a trip or vacation. That means I got to be with MaBill, just the two of us!

When I was about 17 my Dad got a job in California and we moved there taking MaBill too. They thought I was old enough to take care of myself and I had was scared and had to beg to go with them.

We got to California and I only stayed two months, they were so mean and hateful. I took a job as a cleaning lady in a hotel and saved my money for the month and took a train back to Missouri. I had a good friend from a large family and her Mother said I could stay with them as long as I wanted.

I won't promise, but I think I can wind this up tomorrow. I think it has even done me some good to write it all down.

God Bless you each and everyone!

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Hello everyone!

Taking up where I left off, me going back to Missouri on the train and staying with friends. I only had to stay 2 weeks with them as I got a job the day after I got back and got a tiny apartment. It was there I met my sweetie husband.  He had just been home one day out of the Navy. The restaurant I worked at served beer. He came in and ordered a beer. I asked for an ID and he refused to show it. Keep in mind this was a very, very small town.

The owner came out and said she kew his family well and to serve him. I told her no, she could if she wanted him to have a beer. There was a huge fine for the person that served a minor alcohol. She gave him a beer. He came in the next day and ordered a beer, again I asked for ID, this time he gave it to me. Turns out he had turned 21 that very day! I am 6 months older than him!

Trying to not make this so long. We started dating after that and 5 months later we married. The jobs back in the small midwest towns were hard to find. I suggested we go to California where MaBill and my parents were to find some better jobs. We loaded everything we owned into an old Corvair! I think the largest thing was an ironing board. We made it to California where my parents managed a hotel. They let us stay in a room free. You cannot even imagine the happiness when MaBill and I saw each other again!

Hubby got a job down by the Yuma border and we moved closer to his job and that's where we still are. It was 70 miles to the town where MaBill and my parents lived. I went over there at least twice a month!

MaBill got to see her first Great Great Grandchild when she was 95 years old. I have to bore you with this little bit of info to explain something. A doctor told me one time that when anything bad happens  I am the one who takes over. I then put the incident into a little box located in my brain and lock it up. Sometimes it takes a few years for that box to get full and when it does it all comes flying out and I suffer for a week or so.

Got a call one morning from my Mom to say they had to take MaBill to the hospital late last night because she was so sick at her stomach. The hospital kept her over night and she died in her sleep. What did I do? Went over there immediately helped make the funeral arrangements and select the spot in the graveyard. Went to her funeral, thanked friends, took care of the things they brought over, etc. Never shed a tear!

A little over 3 years later I heard a song that was MaBills favorite hymn.   Sweer Hour of Prayer, it was played at her funeral too. I know I cried for 2 weeks. The box had come open.

Thank you all who put up with this very long story and God Blessings to you all!

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Adrian -- What a sweet story! You still live near Yuma. One day, maybe we can meet.

Roxie -- Hope all is well your way.

Jimmy, Roy, Debbie, and anyone else -- Would enjoy hearing from you!

Today, I am waiting for my medicine to arrive. Tomorrow, I get directions how to use it from the doctor's assistant.

My sweet cousin-Linda crocheted me a prayer shawl. This is the first time she crocheted. She did a really good job -- I was so touched. She said she prayed for me every time she worked on it.

We got home from the music festival late Sunday afternoon and I still have the big 5th wheel to unload.

We had a wonderful time, the weather was beautiful (we did not need to use the a/c or heat) and I met up with old and new friends.  The picture above was the last night and I was having a drum off with my new friend Yannick.  He moved to North Dakota seven years ago from the Ivory Coast, Africa.  He and his two friends that came to the festival had a ball and will be back.

A bad thunderstorm is passing through and it is getting koud out there.

Adrian - That is quite the story!  I am sure glad you had MaBill.  My mother and I did not get along and when my dad died when I was 12, I was alone.

Carole - Prayers for the family that lost their two children.  I simply cannot imagine this.  So very sad.  I know we know that they are perfect wrapped in the arms of our Savior, but we want them here and it can be too much to make any sense at the time.

Time to go.  Back with more tomorrow.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Lynn -- Good to have you back. I'm so glad you enjoyed the Festival. Adrian -- I cried when my former student-Kelly and her two children died. So sad. Thank you, Jesus, they have a home in Heaven and will be reunited some day with their family. Roxie -- WHAT? * * * I am on my first CHEMO treatment in pill form -- 2 pills. Please pray for me. There are a lot of side effects.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Carole, my prayers are with you! I don't know what the side effects are with the pill form of Chemo but I know how my hubby suffered from the Chemo he had. He hasn't had any for 4 months and is still having some of the side effects.

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Hi there, dear ones.  Busy around here.

Adrian, wow!!!!  I so enjoyed every bit about your story!!  Even when you thot it was boring!  🙂  Thank you so much for sharing this!!

Lynn, so glad to have you back, but very happy for you when you get to do these types of things!  I love the picture and you look very happy there. 🙂

Carole dear, I'm praying often for you, sweetheart.  Happy to hear about the sales in the store.  I sure do miss you!!

I can't seem to get online easily from my phone lately.  Too busy to figure out why.  By the end of next month, my neighbor will take over Todd's condo, he will move into my condo that I'm renting, and I'll move into my new condo just down the walkway from Todd.  Looking forward to it.

Please pray for my dermatitis on my eyelids.  The low steroidal cream works, but it elevates my pressure in my eye that has glaucoma, plus, the dermatitis comes right back when I'm off of it. I'm on a new med, but it does't work as well, could have other side effects and gets into my eyes. I'm trying something natural, but not sure how that will pan out.  I also have a frustrating "unspoken" if you would please pray about.  I need to let go and surrender it to God and I need His guidance and peace.  Thanks!

A friend, Alice, from church came over yesterday.  We ate lunch, watched "42" about Jackie Robinson and then got into a bible study about Revelation.  We spent  over 8 hours together and didn't even realize it.  The study was very stimulating!  She is a fairly new christian and is loving finding out about God.

OK, that is enough for today.  Love you all!!!  Very much!!!

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Carole, that's so sweet about the prayer shawl!  Our church has a group of people who put together prayer quilts.  Oh the stories of answered prayer through these!  WOW!

I get to go to church tonight for "Ladies Night Out".  We get to eat and listen to a great testimony.  I wish you could come with me, Carole. Or any of you that are "girls".  🙂

Re: Prayer Request Thread

Good morning!

Carole - I sure hope the chemo pills work for you.  My friend's mom needed them, but she got way too sick on the original dose, so they cut it in half and she still could not take it.  She has discontinued treatment as she is 83 and has a difficult time getting around and wants to spend what time she has left here being able to do things and go places.

Roxie - Interesting moving situation.  I wish I could be back there for the winters but Ike is not interested so I stay in this icebox.

Ike took this pic of me at the music festival.  I am beginning to look like a sharpei!

I am slowly getting the 5th wheel unpacked.  Have had a lot of other things to do that has been keeping me from getting it done.  We are going to Melanie & Bob's for dinner and cards this evening.

Happy to have my 'new' car back.  They did an excellent job on the paint and it looks great.

Time to go.  I need to get to the credit union and the thrift shop.

Have a wonderful weekend!
