Hi everyone. I figured there had to be others out there in the millions of eBayers who want to eliminate clutter. So I decided to create a discussion thread and a "ME" page all about clutter and how to get rid of it and how to keep it out of our lives forever.

Personally I know my clutter problem took years to accumulate, and will take some time and effort to make things "normal" again. But I'm ready to dedicate myself to the effort. I'd like to discuss the tips and strategies necessary not just to eliminate clutter but to become the kind of person who does not ACCUMULATE CLUTTER in the first place! If you are interesting in creating a clutter-free life then let's talk!

The latest here:
* I've been sharing outgrown kids clothing with friends.
* We sold my brother-in-law's piano recently, and it's nice to have that space now.
* There are a couple of bags full of things to donate in the garage. The donation truck will make its rounds this Thursday.
* I inherited several thousand antique postcards from my grandfather. I have been selling them here on eBay since the end of February. I will keep a few, but I want to share the rest with people who will enjoy them. It will be a long term project, but headway is being made!

I havn't got much decluttering done the last few weeks. I did get a couple of drawers cleaned out and took it to the good will. We have been busy with all my husbands Dr. apt.

Sold a little on ebay but not enough to miss it in the house.

I had so hoped to have more accomplished by the time I came
back to check on this thread.

DH's health issues have me catering to his needs more than
the house clutter issues.

of course the stress of the clutter isnt helping my health either , lol !

Then my vacuum decided to die. With no income on DH's side, it will be hard to replace the good vacuum, i've settled for using the old one. Luckily I hadnt thrown it out or donated it yet.

The donation truck came today and they took 2 kitchen garbage bags full out + a box. I didn't have a big donation this time, but I'm glad some things left the building.

I'm so sorry your vacuum isn't working. Have you priced a new vacuum? You can get a cheap low end one at Walmart for about $30. Still, it's not easy to come up with $30 when your income has been slashed.

I can't imagine the weight of dealing with your DH's health issues and also not having his income. I hate that you and he are going through this. You are doing the best you can to get through each day and do what you have to do. Be extra gentle with yourself and take some credit for all that you are having to take care of these days.

Yes, decluttering is never-ending. I think it is just a part of housework, a task like washing dishes.

Two donation trucks came by last month, and I had things to give both visits. I recently painted the interior of our bedroom walk-in closet, which required emptying it. When I was putting my clothes back in, it was very apparent which ones I never wear, so I was able to put several garments into the donation area in the garage.

I am continuing to sell the postcards on eBay, and hundreds have been shipped off to happy new owners. I still have thousands to go and am still in the process of listing them. I started selling this February and had 7 storage boxes full. Several hundred sales later, I now have 5 boxes full. It's a long process!

This past week with help from family my kictchen has a new clean coat of paint. The floor has new flooring. Sorted out cabinets --now have to put things back in place.

Hopefully I can tackle the living room next since I have bought the paint. Just a hard job getting everything cleared out of the rooms to do this,

It isn't easy loseing your loved one. We were married 49 years. We have had a lot of good friends and family for support.


How is your husband doing.? I hope getting along well.

I havn't spent any time on the boards so don't really know what is happening . I did a little cleaning out of my closet today. Havn't touched my husbands side yet.

I hope to catch up on the happenings more often now.

The donation truck came by today and took about 4 bags of things. Yea! It is encouraging to see my post dated 9/9 above, because I now have 3 boxes of cards left! Woo-hoo! Each box measures about 11" wide x 14" long x 7" deep.

Inch by inch we will get there!

Hello friends,
The truck was supposed to come by last week, but it never showed up. I brought everything back in and keep adding to it. I need to take it by the Goodwill donation center. It will be so nice to have it gone!

I've been checking out the flylady tv videos on youtube. They are wonderful. My two favorites are "Finally Loving Yourself" and "Success in the New Year". I found these especially encouraging. One thing she said that has stuck with me is that any day can be a fresh start just like the beginning of a new year. And, any time of day can be a new beginning to start again.

I also found a Dave Ramsey 15 minute segment online where he talks about how to set goals. If you want to check it out, go to daveramsey.com and click on the "radio" tab, then click on "archives". Select January 3rd's show, and fast forward to 1 hour into the show. He gives a great 15 minute talk on making changes for the better in your life.
