Hello Nonny and friends,
We're still maintaining here. I just went through my son's clothes and checked what clothes he had for this fall, so that I wouldn't buy things he doesn't need.
Mainly, I have home improvement projects going on. I removed the "Little House on the Prairie" wallpaper from the kitchen, which was no small task. I skim coated it and now am experimenting with texturing with mud. The first experiment was a disaster, which resulted in a lot of sanding. The fine white dust went everywhere. Last night I tried a wider blade, and it went better. Since it went okay, I am going to try to finish the rest of the kitchen today.
I put off improving the kitchen, because I wanted to replace the cabinets, countertops, and the sink. That's not in the budget, but I had to decide that it doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful, (to quote Nester at nestingplacenc@blogspot.com). I will do what I CAN do and try to enjoy what I have.
Also, we tore out the tile in a bathroom to repair the damage caused by a leak behind the wall. We discovered that we needed to replace the green board and sheet rock. We put up new concete board, and I am almost done tiling. I need to finish tiling and grout the whole thing.
We are living in a bit of a mess from all this. On Wednesday, I was getting depressed and discouraged from it all and all the other jobs that need to be done. Yesterday, I braved the heat and mosquitos and trimmed the bushes outside. I also sprayed a citronella concoction to hopefully repell the mosquitos and nats in the yard. The yard looks so much better, but there is still some good work to be done out there.
Well, I will get back to my routine and see about those kitchen walls. Wish me luck!
