The Poll, Vote for change by force

It is in my opinion of great import to this group to vote in the online poll. In order to get the kind of group you, the ones who actually use it should vote now! At present only 4 dealers/dealer-collectors have voted to change things by force, this is clearly not enough. Unless you want the chess dealers who never use this site ,to loose their grip on the pure collectors who do, then you will use your vote to change things back to how they were before the internet brought this darned freedom and democracy. We dealers cannot start a new group of our own as we cannot exist without the collectors,so our only recourse is to pretend we are a silent majority and force change through. Do not let it appear we are only a gang of four,(and bear in mind before you get your friends to join and vote ,that the moderators aren't stupid and votes for change from people who rarely if ever go on to this site will not carry much weight. If we must resort to such tactics the rather say you never went on because there were too many people enjoying themselves. Always remember we want it to be like in the old days of the CCI, weekends away in exotic locations with hotels at £3,000 for 4 nights ,and if the poor collectors couldn't afford that then we let them come and listen to our pearls of wisdom for a mere entry fee of £600. The Poll, Vote for change by force

disphania hi charles the way i studied the 22/5/2007 was to examine all threads used on that day ,and then note each members contribution on the 22nd only. having seen 8 members say something in a thread and 22 people visited the site ... thus imbalance . roberts poll suggests those who say nothing at all ,have rights to vote for change , i agree ,but only if they participate in discussions . my issue is simply if you dont join in ,then your rights are rather dubious to say the least.

gevork6 Hello Art. Although there has been much contention I must also admit that all of the squabbling has been fun to observe. I just hope that they don't take all of the fun away and screen every message and post only the ones the screener sees fit to post. Brad

gevork6 hi art i suppose these discussions have on occasion been rather heated . i agree that its nice to be light hearted and make it more fun . yet ..... the issues do seem far more serious to the many as the evidence is there to see in various threads since this group was formed. 1. some members have had great disappointments with e bay buys. 2 some members have seen wanted sets stolen with illegal ,B I N offers. 3 some members clearly want change to our group ,but dont join in the discussions. 4 some members devout quite alot of time to the discussions ,and feel their efforts are not appreciated too much . 6 some members are clearly serious buyers/collectors , and use our group for their own personal gain ,and give ziltch back . so i sure think its just a little bit more serious to some group members at least , and many may buy sets on limited budgets ,and cannot afford to take hits on dubious sets. i humbly think the wealthier collectors have the luxury of being more relaxed about things ,but sadly there are others in our group , who have to be more concerned ,about how they collect. i sure dont mind admitting that i am one of them, and the benefits of this group to me at least are rather good , in its existing foremat.

Alan (F) mentioned in the above = cpe1991. I'll sign as Alan F from now on to avoid confusion with Alan D and the infamous one (P-T). The reason why the time of the last visit can look wrong is when you don't log out, quit your browser or turn off your computer after each session, then you are left on the list as being at the time of your original visit, even if it was months ago and you have regularly visited since then. Alan F.

cpe1991 hi alan now that is very interesting indeed, and that suggests further imbalance with the analysis i came up with. if i read you correctly ,then there is an even lower percentage of contributors , when compared to group discussion lookers . at that rate the regular users are being ambushed badly ,as the opposition to our group in its existing format, seems even more dubious.

to all a question i would love to be answered is a simple one. why are the chess related threads ignored by so many ,and why are the opponents of our group in its current format , not even joining in threads with next to zero woffle. i have used on occasion the by pass system of ignoring a pointless message ,and steered the discussion back to its correct course. the result has been the same , the reliable contributors join in ,and the others do nothing as usual.

Guy I do not question your method to find out who posted in 22/5/2007. I just wanted to say that one day is too short time frame to make conclusions. It would be interesting to know how many people contributed in last 2 months or so but finding out this would be too laborous. Kristjan

Jon, old sport, jolly nice of you to ask. Got a bit miffed as they disenfranchised me and I couldn't place me vote in this poll. Shades of the Peasants Revolt. Thought of throwing meself in front of a Derby knight as a protest, as great aunt Emily Wilding Davison P-T, the suffragette, did. So, I got me own back by voting under me 8 aliases to ban all chat from everywhere, including Rel and Pol (have you ever seen such codswallop as that one - the vicar and I downed another bottle of port when we first saw it and fell about ourselves laughing). I'll be watching you all at Bloomers. Yours anon Alan P-T

chessspy hi alan i will enjoy your company , but i refuse to meet thief of my cats head. that will be a duel in maddox street , with his head ending up in a skip. ]:) i spoke to luke yesterday and he repeated his concerns over non receipt of catalogues. however your photos of the sets will assist the unfortunate collectors , and its great you are taking so much of your personal time to assist us all.
