Ah, I hadn't thought of it referring to Alan leaving, but I looked for his id in the member list and it is no longer there, so I believe you are right. I agree with everything you said about losing a member- any member. And while I find chess sets, and the history behind them, interesting- even fascinating, I hardly think they are the "be all do all" of my life. Certainly not worth causing any hard feelings nor ruining friendships over.
None of those chess pieces will ever remember any one of us one iota - whether good or bad- when we are gone, but people/mankind/history will. Guess we each have to determine which is of more value to us personally.
Personally, I have to pick people first. Good bad or ugly. Good thing to, I have a lockjaw on that last category. :^O
