Tales from the Crypt .

Watch it, Puzzycat!......... The link YOU, (Guy Chesspurr) recently presented, namely, http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w168/extra_life/Ugly_dog.jpg ...was illegally and inappropriately taken (stolen) from my "Italian"(?) relatives' webpage in a place off the leather boot, in a place called Sicily. That's a picture taken from my extended family photo album. Yes, I recognize him. His full name (not the whole extended family's name, but JUST his full name is Tino Collisto Edmondo Abramo Luigi Alfiero Mario Franco Ovidio Arsenio Damiano Ernesto Gregario MAZZUCCO. And don't you forget it, or I'll set him after you! For those of you with just too much time on your hands (as seems to be the case with the puzzycat as well as myself), here is a link so that you can look up the multitude of meaning behind his name (Yes, I looked it up!) ... and come to find out, he has a very appropriate name. His mother, (whose own name I will withhold, not for her privacy, but for time's sake) was a person of integrity and believed that first names (and second and third, etc. etc. etc.) were extremely important. http://www.20000-names.com/male_italian_names.htm But to help you along this little southern trip, here are a few meanings behind his full name... "...'protector of property'... 'warrior'... 'knight'... 'father of the multitudes'... 'to kill'... 'battle to the death'... 'of France'... 'vigilant'... 'sheep herder"... 'small'... (and of course)... 'most beautiful"... Now, who's gonna argue with Tino's mother in either naming him... or thinking he is the most beautiful little boy in the world? Any takers? No, I didn't think so... As for the Puzzycat's paltry attempt at assisting us with another link to a tree climbing dog... well, it's just like that Guy... sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. Give it a try yourself, Catman! www.bbc.co.uk/news/1/hi/england/west_midlands/7889714.stm - Cached And with that, it could certainly seems that I have wasted enough time on this posted message right here... especially since the majority of you have already fallen asleep... But I felt obliged to protect my extended family in this vicious, uncalled-for, poorly disguised assault upon my extended family down in Sicily... You GUYS are gonna get it! And I don't mean a leaded chess set! Some Lead? yes. A Set? yes. A Chess? No. In the Chest? Whaddaya tink? ;-) John, VT.

Me take sides? Never! OK, you two, move over. I like both cats and dogs. At present, we only have a cat, but that's because I don't feel I have a large enough yard to be fair for keeping a dog. My last dog died a few years ago, she was a Collie- my favorite breed- who lived a good, long and happy 15 years. And if I ever have the room again, I will have another Collie for sure.

A General Election , No General Elected. 14 Zombies viewed the " Chat Smurfs " posting .... perhaps my " tale of the Hammer and the Dogs Paw " and an unfinished chess game ... Will resurrect the ... Plague of the Zombies ...... Once upon a time there was a large Collie Dog , and he liked playing chess. If by tomorrow at least 14 more Zombies rise from their graves .... My story will continue .

So, All You "Zombies", (Hey, I am only borrowing that term...) Hmmmm. "Zombies"... meaning??? "Zealous Observing Members, But Invisible, Entirely Secretive"? Great use of wording John ...as we are " plagued by their presence " ]:)

Guy, I hear the masses yell - in my fertile imagination - or maybe an unespecially(?) perceptive ability - "Don't encourage him, Guy!" (even if this is a Tell-Tale Thread). In addition, I think we must be careful in our multitudes of postings - lest folks see us as a Punch and Judy show... a Tom and Jerry Show... or Monty Python Wannabees... Oops! Too late, I think! John.

Did you say " Monty Python " well there is no doubt an influence , plus of course your lyrics which clearly replace " Animation ". ;) So we poke a little fun at our group membership , but some are friendly Zombies. Yes " Mark my words " they reply to polite Emails, pay their Taxes, others sell the odd chess set , plus no doubt a few have been " gagged " . We do this at great personal risk , as I might be mugged at Cambridge " for insolence " or worse. Perhaps we both should be silenced for good and buried in this E bay Crypt ... now would that not be a tale indeed. Would it not be better than the opportunity to discuss the Christies and Bonhams lots ? The personal pleasure of loved chessmen from our youth. Descovering interesting information on post WW2 chess sets and boxes . Who knows what our group membership wants, and perhaps they do not even know themselves .

This is the end. Closing the " DOOR " on chess sets group. Dear chesspurr, The eBay Groups moderator cpe1991 has removed you from the group Chess Sets and this group will no longer appear on your "My Groups" list. This doesn't affect your ability to buy or sell on eBay. Please consider joining another eBay Group by visiting the Groups Center. Well we are all happy here are we not . 😉

The member "cpe1991" has sent the following message to the group: Chess Sets From: cpe1991 To: Chess Sets Next step is to remove members. I'll then leave it a little while in case anyone has a request to see a thread. Alan Of course i was denied this prevelige, but the infamous Leuchars thread is very safe in my " CRYPT " nod wink ... ;) All is fair in war " Stan " The Pike has missed out ! ;}) -- Edited by chesspurr at 07/29/2010 1:04 PM PDT

OK, I'm confused. Are you saying we should have gotten an email saying this group is closing, or are you talking about the other chess collecting group, in which I am not a member and therefore would not have gotten an email?

To all members: I think that everyone would agree that if eBay decided to "close the group" for one reason or another that the Leader, Co-Leader and Moderator would be some of the first to know ? I haven't heard a peep ! I think that postings 26 and 27 are an abstract reference that the Group has lost another member, cpe1991, Alan Fersht. I am personally saddened by his leaving but the decision is his alone. Of course I am also saddened when any member leaves ! Over time we have lost some members that I personally consider experts in this field and it is a sad day when we lose their experience and expertise no matter whether we agree or disagree with points that they have made. We are all a little wiser for their past contributions and all a little poorer by their losses. Not everyone can be a researcher and not everyone cares about everyhting that every other person is concerned with. Some people view all of these "little game pieces" as nicknacks and some regard them as treasures from the gods. Most of us are probably somewhere in between in our dedication to preserving them ? I am very torn about these recent posts as it almost seems to be "rubbing salt in a wound" but we all seem to agree in "freedom of the media" within very broad guidelines so until I hear from others, I am going to let things say what they will, begrudgingly.
