Hello, I am a new ebay seller, although I have put in so-ooo many hours the last three week I am feeling Old ( old in body, not selling) HA. I came to this group to seek your expert advice. I have spent countless hours, reading, reviewing, watching items in the jewelry category. I have been listing diamond jewelry and getting 0 bids or extremely low bids for expensive items. I have tried listing with reserve, without reserve, buy it now, starting price $1.00 and starting price at my lowest acceptable price. I have reviewed items selling ....looked at Power Sellers Pages.....searched and searched for new wholesalers to buy from. I still am sinking beneath the cost of listing and staying up until 4 & 5 a.m. I am doing this "full time" and want to open a ebay store. But am beginning to think I am either too dumb to succeed or no one out there is buying. O.K. I'll try to stop complaining. I am usually very optimistic and keep telling myself I CAN DO THIS. I really do want to learn and of course, make money (currently this is my only income). Please ....can someone please review my listings and tell me what I am doing wrong. Is the "jewelry section" a difficult area to sell in ? Should I try selling in another category ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Hello Liz! I looked at your auctions and would suggest the following: 1. You are correct, you should try to sell in a different area for right now. Jewelry is a tough area to sell in on Ebay. You must have incredible prices and lot's of feedback to sell such expensive items. 2. My suggestion would be to sell some items from around the house, get some experience, and build up some feedback. 3. Keep looking for a great wholesaler... a real wholesaler will not charge you a signup fee and wholesale lists in general are a ripoff. Best of luck, Daniel

I'm with Daniel on this. This is a tough market in cyberspace. I don't think you should abandon the market altogether, but supplement to another "line". With that in mind, I don't think red text on white is a good combination for these items. To me, I think you should have a background that simulates off white seamless. Subtle yet unnoticeable. Stick to one font. I can see the color balance is off on a couple of pictures. I would shoot some pics on a grey background. If the color in the picture doesn't match the grey you shot, use a photo editor to correct the color balance based on the grey or adjust the camera when you shoot the photo to the correct light source (incandescent, fluorescent etc). The color balance on the $6000 ring is perfect. don't give up. -Paul

Paul, I have not visited this site in several days. I have been reviewing everything I can and listing & relisting. I had trouble with cross-promotions and then categories in my ebay store, so who hasn't ? I appreciate your suggestions. I am not getting many bids at all and have lowered prices to the bone. I just know more about jewelry and am very stubborn. Liz

Hi Liz! Let me tell you what I did and it increased my sales by 300%! I bought a program that puts my feedback in my auctions. I did not know if it would work or not but I gave it a try. THE BEST $59.99 I EVER SPENT! I know that people can do it themselves but it takes 3 min with this program. My sales took off from the start. I can now sell for more then my comp and I get all the bids! I don't know if it would work as well for you but thought you might want to think about it.
