Hello. I just bought an item on ebay but I got it defective. I don't know if I'm being picky or I'm just right and I need your opinion on what should I do next.
I bought a metal fishing lure from a Japanese seller. The seller itself has 99.9% positive feedback so I trusted it and decided to buy the item worth of 10$ (not cheap for a small metal lure, the Chinese replicas cost around 2$) . The brand (Japanese manufacturer) of the item is very well known for it's quality so that's what I expected for. But when I got the item it was defective or damaged (but I think it was defective at the beginning). Now if you fish yourself, you probably would want to use quality and as much realistic lures as you can. But the lure I got has 2 defects:
1-First, it has scraches on one part of the body which is coated with refletive material (very important to attrack a fish)
2- Second, the top of the lure where you knot your line was corroded which can cause abrasion to the line (the corrosion of a metal can't be caused by damage during shipping).
I've attached a photo to be more clear.
Now, I sent a message to the seller telling him that I'm not happy with the product because of the reasons I mentioned above. It's been two days and he hasn't replied me yet.
Now what should I do? I really need your opinion .Should I ask to return the item for a refund or am I being so picky? Shouldn't I expect quality if that's what I'm paying for?
It's the second defective item I got on ebay and sometimes I just think not to buy anymore here. I've got very good products too, but I can't lose time waiting which product is coming defective and which one is not. Btw I live in Albania (Europe) and I generaly wait 15-30 days to get an order.

Sorry to me it doesn't look like the item is unusable. Unless he listed it as mint condition, it should be fine for fishing.

This really does come down to what the listing said. If it said mint condition or said NO damage then you are correct and the seller should make this right. On the other hand if it just said good condition, ready to fish etc then you are wrong. I fish lures that are more beat up then that and they catch fish.

Hi,
A fellow fisherman here. I would absolutely return the item for a refund. The scratches or missing reflective paint is a dealbreaker for me. When your out there trying to catch a nice fish you don’t want a defect like that causing the fish to pass on your lure because it doesn’t look right.
The corrosion on the top where you tie your line is unacceptable also. Besides the fact that it can cause your line to break it’s also the sign of cheap quality and for $10 I would expect higher quality than that. If you had spent around $2 or $3 I would have to say that you get what you pay for.
I hope this helps. LMK if there’s anything else I could do to help out a fellow angler.

It's a older used top water floating fishing lure. The marks on the side are from the hook that's attached to eye banging against the side when it swims. the corrosion doesn't affect it what so ever. I'd be more worried that the old line that the hook is tied to would be rotten. I run a charter boat on lake Erie. If I threw out every lure in my boxes that looked like that I have to pitch half of them. You paid ten bucks, not one hundred and ten.

You helped me make one of my points. The seller listed it as New and I agree that the marks on the side look like the hook banging on the side of the lure making it a Used item! Half of the lures in my box look like that also and by no means am I saying it’s unusable but there’s definitely a difference from when you are responsible for causing the marks due to you having a good time fishing and buying something marked as New and getting something that has wear and tear on it already.

I say bouncing around in the tackle box or drop the line on deck or get the line tangled it'll end up looking like that anyway.
