Hello,
I bought an item on 4/20/21 and paid right away via PP. EDD 5/4/21.
On 5/1 I sent an email to the seller asking for a tracking # (I knew I wasn't home that day and wanted to make arrangements). No reply.
On 5/5 I sent another email informing the seller that the item hadn't arrived, asked for tracking again. Same day I got a very short to-the-point answer: sorry for the delay. I will check with USPS. (No hello, thank you, signature, whatsoever.) No mentioning of tracking #. I know the seller is not required to release it to me or even obtain one in the first place, but it would have been helpful, especially since the item was not marked as shipped either. This is anxiety-inducing for buyers. 😆
On 5/8 I asked if there were any news?
On 5/10 I received following message: It was returned back to sender. But I will ship out another one asap
This is kinda weird. I checked my address, it's correct within ebay and PP info.
I also use USPS Informed Delivery and usually know in advance if there's a package coming. "Return to sender" strikes me as odd.
I do want the item, I bought it and paid for it.
At what point should I open an INR case? Since this is a new seller (2020, 253 FB, 96.3%), I don't want to kick their shins, but I also don't want to be played and be out of $130 because I missed my deadline. They're located in the US, so I assume it's a drop-shipper (14 days delivery from the get-go)? Correct me if I'm wrong.
Also, shipping asap doesn't mean anything. I most likely won't see a tracking # again and kinda feel strung along.
Any input is appreciated, thank you!

That's what I was thinking, too. I will file for an INR earlier. Thank you!

Yes, true. I also try to go with better FB rating, too, if possible. Unfortunately not always possible.
Anxiety-inducing was meant as a joke (no meds needed). I just feel helpless with no tracking number, no indication the item has shipped. And yes, I know about the Money Back Guarantee, also have read and understood it. That's why I'm not trying to use/abuse it, unless absolutely warranted. It IS a new seller and there's no need to assume the worst from the get-go.
My gut instinct however tells me to file an INR before the 30 days are up.
Thank you!

I have a hard time believing the "asap" story as well. Gut-instinct tells me not to believe it, and there are a lot of really good answers here on the board telling me to react.
They all convinced me to file for an INR case earlier.
The last year has been really tough for a lot of folks, and I am lucky enough to have sailed it safely, both financially and health-wise. I do believe in giving people fair treatment, however, I don't want to be cheated either.
Thank you for your nice words and input!
