tracking

I bought an item, and it was "shipped". I did not get it. I contacted seller and he verified it was shipped. I filed a claim with eBay. The USPS sent me an email saying the item was delivered. It wasn't.  eBay cancelled the search because USPS says it was delivered. I can not get in touch with eBay as every time I enter the missing item they say I got it and the search is closed. Anybody have any thoughts? Looks like eBay needs a little work on their web, maybe a phone?

Try checking with your local carrier / post office to find out where the package was physically delivered.  They may have a GPS location that can pinpoint where it ended up.

tracking

If the seller provided a tracking number that shows delivery, you need to determine if the delivery was actually made to your address, and if the package details match those of your item. You may be able to do this online or by contacting the shipping service.

If the package was actually delivered to your address but was stolen before you got to it, there is probably not much you can do; in that case the seller has done their job, and the shipping service will likely say that the recipient is responsible for providing a safe location for package delivery.

If the tracking does not show delivery to your address, details of what to do can be found here:

I would go to the post office with your tracking number. Always better than going online or calling.

A clerk can answer questions that online can't. You will get better tracking that way. Mailman or USPS truck driver doesn't always put notes on an item delivered online. I had something delivered 3 blocks away up a hill at the wrong address by the USPS driver. Luckily, I caught in right away with an email item delivered. I ran to the apartment and took my package which was next to about 10 other packages. And that was up Nob Hill in San Francisco. It sounds like it went to the wrong address. Might not recover it. Some sellers have terrible handwriting if not using a eBay label. As a last resort, and I say last, you can do a charge back on the credit card or debit card used...you have months to do this online as a dispute...I would first check the post office. Then I would very politely email the seller. Sellers sometimes can be very understanding.
