I found out today at the Post Office that DeJoy is trying to end First Class Parcel. He wants it gone by May.
Personally, I want DeJoy gone by May if not sooner.

USPS didn't announce the PRC's proposed change in a press release until a week ago. Unless one follows those releases or the PRC they're not going to be aware of these things until closer to implementation.
OP is a mail carrier, not a counter clerk that helps customers with purchasing postage. It's not strictly necessary for her to stay up on these changes to deliver the mail. She'll probably be alerted formally by USPS once it's finalized and they issue announcements/instructions to each PO.
I would not find it surprising to hear that a high percentage of people working for USPS at the PO level (apart from postmasters) hadn't heard about the change yet. 🤷

They were just stating their opinion on the original post. That's what everyone is allowed to do on a community board, such as this. Scolding is not necessary. Obviously, you love DeJoy, but as a retired Postmaster of 33 years, I would beg to differ. But again, that's just my opinion. Have a good day!

Fair enough.

NO. They are not “trying to end” it. They are merging it into a new service called “USPS ground advantage” due to start 7/9.
https://bestlifeonline.com/usps-replacing-first-class-package-service-news/
A couple of take aways from the article:
“But the introduction of USPS Ground Advantage is not likely to involve a price hike,
(Where first class was limited to 15.999 ounces GA (ground advantage) will take packages to 70 pounds.)
"It is also intended for users of the Postal Service's Priority Mail service, who need two- to three-day transit times but don't want to pay Priority Mail's pound-based prices,
That would seem to help where a buyer asks “Can’t you ship it for less?”
In Jan. 2022, the Postal Service lowered the average shipping rates for USPS Retail Ground products by 7 percent, and rates for Parcel Select Ground by 12 percent.
I offer no opinion on whether or not this is a good thing. Only that it is happening and you should be aware of what is coming.
Which will end First Class Parcel. First Class Parcel is an "air" service. It will not actually merge them into anything that is a "ground" service it merges it into the higher priced Priority service. Sure Parcel Select has a higher % for 2 reasons. 1. That the item being shipped is not something that can be shipped via air, and 2 people just assume that parcel select would be cheaper without actually checking.
Case in point. I have another thread that I'm trying to gather clear simple printable directions to shipping.
An Amish family is making church clothes and wants to ship them. Their order doesn't allow them internet access. They can though e-mail. They e-mailed the addresses and box weight (all under 2#, most under 1#) and were sent a PDF with labels to print. However, they packed them in LFRB and RR"A" boxes. I had to reject them when I went to pick up. Because they all had 1 and 2 pound Parcel Select labels. I told them for now it would save them a lot of money if they used non Priority boxes and shipped those under a pound First Class Parcel but it will probably not be available in a few months. (This is not through Congress yet so contact all your congress people). I told them that the heavier ones would work in the RR"A" boxes but they need the correct postage, the LFRB is just not cost effective for what they are making at this time.

@martin2001 wrote:Why do you use USPS when things are so terrible? Use UPS, Fedex, I am sure you will save a lot of money. I am absolutely satisfied with USPS service, delivering all my packages, no damages, no lost packages and very fast, basically for free (weight below 4 lbs) compared to UPS and Fedex.
You want him gone by May? Send e message to the White House, this is a wrong place to request personal changes in the current administration.
Hun (and I do mean that with sarcasm font). I and ALL my customers live in a rural area, a lot of my customers are Amish. We do not have free pick-up from UPS or FedEx. To ship UPS I have to take it to the UPS store in town (opposite direction from where I work) or pay FedEx to pick-up, last time I had to do that it cost $12 just as a pick up fee, not the boxes postage, and it took 3 days for them to get around to pick it up.
Not all gung ho on the current administration, but it is WORLDS better than the last one.

DeJoy destroyed MILLIONS of dollars of sorting machines trying to keep tRump in power. He has ruined the Post Office. We have no subs, heck we haven't even had a PostMaster in my office, just a series of PMR's that are barely trained. If it wern't for our Unions fighting him tooth and nail we would have lost most of our benefits. He has kept canceling mail count so we are still working on evaluated times pre-pandemic. We in my area deliver Amazon, so I work an average of 2 hours a day UNPAID. This means that my evaluated start time is 7:30 and supposed to be done at 3:30. ALL of us are there between 6 and 6:30 and I was almost giddy yesterday when I had an extremely light day for me and got back to the post office at 4. Frankly only working a hour and a half unpaid had me wanting to do a happy dance. DeJoy is an evil SOB.

Since retiring from the Federal Government I look suspiciously across the counter at what appear to be unfair labor practices in the USPS.
