strange emails about my purchase being shipped

Hi,

I have bought a few small items through ebay that generaly came through without any problems or extra communication. However, recently i bought something too big to fit in an envelope and it got 2 numbers, one for USPS tracking  and, another for Global tracking.

The first one went to Erlanger Kentucky where, i assume, the second number got aplied fore the international part of the shipment.
The link to trace my purchase however was blocked from my end (security program), the mail was send to my private adres but no copy was sent to my ebay inbox.
The url looked miles long and started with rover...ebay...com///rover///0///   etc   (sorry for the triple dots and slashes, imagine they were single)
Is that normal? Are these larger shipments different  enough from small packages to explain these emails?
It looked a bit like those tracking and affiliate scam url's, that pop up on other web store sites like aliexpress the last couple of years.
I do wonder how they knew what i bought and when, picture and the information in the email was spot on.
I haven't clicked on the link but just to be sure, i have changed the passwords on my email and paypall accounts and will change ebay's after posting this.

I would just track it from my Purchase History page in ebay. Once the package is actually in the international leg of the journey it should show tracking updates for that second global number.

The "rover" link is normal.

You purchased an item that was shipped through one of two ways.

The first possibility is the Global Shipping Program (GSP). The seller pays for shipping to the hub in Kentucky where a 3rd party contracted by eBay then handles shipping the package internationally. Sometimes they put the international label on the original package and other times they re-pack into a smaller box. Either way, the second tracking number is the one that goes from the hub to you.

The second possibility is eBay International Standard Delivery (ISD). The seller pays a consolidated rate and ships to a hub on either coast (CA or KY, depending where they live). At the hub the package will get a new label for the international leg of the journey.

Since you're receiving e-mail updates about the tracking- this is very likely a GSP shipment. Even sellers get those e-mail updates for GSP shipments. You can tell for sure by viewing the shipping section of the listing.

The bottom line is that this is all normal. If you don't want to click on any links in e-mails then you can  go to your purchase history page and track the package from there. I hope that helps.
