Re: shipping

@2ona2ono,

  "I'm getting wildly different ship charges on the same item to same address".

The different shipping costs would have to be on different listings from different sellers.   Standard shipping costs can differ between different shipping services, USPS, Fed Ex, UPS...  Even if different sellers in the same general location use the same shipping service, they are not required to charge exactly what the shipping company charges.

Without knowing more it is difficult to say why there is such a big difference in shipping rates.  My guess is one or more of the sellers is out of stock on the item currently and instead of cancelling the listing, they raise the price of shipping to prevent people from ordering it. When it is back in stock the shipping cost is lowered. If you open the listings again and look carefully at them you may see there have been Revisions to the listing and a button See all revisions.  Click on that to see if the shipping costs were raised.  Usually it is high volume sellers who do that.

Re: shipping

Are you trying to buy something that needs to be shipped, or have you sold something that needs to be shipped?

Is this a single item from a single seller that you're seeing all these variations on, or is it the same item from different sellers?

Is the shipping cost specified in the listing, or are you trying to figure out if it's accurate using eBays shipping calculator? (this is an exercise in futility, by the way, since you have no way of knowing the actual dimensions of the packaging).

If you're trying to buy, you're going to be charged whatever eBay has in the listing at the time of purchase, regardless of what  the actual shipping costs may be. If you're selling, eBay will calculate what shipping cost your buyer will pay (calculated shipping) or allow you to set a flat rate for everyone.
