Hello, All. I am sure many have posted about this, but I have been unable to find previous posts about this. A few months ago, I started getting shipping cost adjustments. About 8 or so by now. After the first few, I started really measuring and weighing for extreme accuracy, since the adjustments seemed ridiculously petty. I just got one that charged me $1.46 more because "they" said my package weighed 1.20 pounds, and I had it at 1.19 pounds - an astounding difference of .01 pounds. To be even more irritating, this is a package "they" lost (actually was stolen by someone at Fedex - it was an iphone).
I have no idea how to avoid this kind of nit-picking. I am not a business, but I have been a longtime seller on eBay, so it's not like I'm a big target for "them."
How do I dispute an adjustment? There used to be a link to do this, but I can't find it now. Imagine that.

Whether 1.19 or 1.20, the package would ship at the 2 lb rate.
Most adjustments over $10 have nothing to do with dimensions/weight and instead are due to packaging. If under $10 it can be for weight/dim or something like an address correction or a home delivery charge.
There are many surcharges with UPS and FedEx that are not factored in until the carrier physically reviews the package.
In order to help you determine if your charge was legit or in error (and how to appeal), view the label details and expand the section on the bottom right that says see cost breakdown (highlighted below in green). Black out order #, tracking #, and buyer ID and post a screenshot.

You can find guides for all carriers on eBay Seller Center under "preventing shipping label price adjustments."

Edit to add: eBay won't dispute UPS/FedEx adjustments under $10 unless it's an address correction surcharge.

I sure agree with you here! Funny thing is only one of my two accounts (I manage one for a family member) has this "feature." The other one seems to be immune to updates, thank goodness!
One of the most terrifying messages there are to an ebay seller is that the dashboard has been updated and improved. I really think their codewriters and web designers are just looking for something to do and never try to actually navigate some of these "improvements."

Thanks for the info. I am very aware of the 2.00 pound billable weight. Still, I've been getting adjustments and extra charges added because I said the package was 2#, when it actually was 1.5 #. This used to be just fine, again based on the billable weight. Because of these ridiculous petty adjustments, I have become OCD about weighing and measuring the packages.
So, I looked up the pages you sent and read a few more, but still don't see how to dispute the additional charges. I was willing to just eat the others, but this penalty is ridiculous. On none of the previous adjustments have I had a measurement grossly inaccurate, and my weights have always been within the billable weight.
Sorry to be so dense, but could you please send or show me exactly where the link for disputes is?
Many thanks

I don't think you read my full post above. I'll repeat a few key points:
In order to help you determine if your charge was legit or in error (and how to appeal), view the label details and expand the section on the bottom right that says see cost breakdown (highlighted below in green). Black out order #, tracking #, and buyer ID and post a screenshot.
eBay won't dispute UPS/FedEx adjustments under $10 unless it's an address correction surcharge which eBay CS may credit to your account.
Even though you can't dispute anything under $10, it would be helpful if you posted a screenshot so we can see the reason for the adjustment - help you avoid it go forward.
There is no link to dispute UPS/FedEx - it all has to go through eBay CS.

Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks @andarud56 - you forgot to expand "see cost breakdown" on the lower right. That's where we'll see the reason for the adjustment.
Since we have a screenshot of the rest, if you just want to copy/paste all the text under "see cost breakdown" that will work to give us the rest of the info.

I have been selling on eBay since 1999. Recently, I too have been getting cost adjustment charges. Mostly they have been on an item that I have sold hundreds of all over the country. Brand new boxes of roll paper (CAD paper) that measure 11x37x6 and weigh 33 lbs. (they actually weigh 32 lbs., but ocassionally they may be 32.10 or 31.90, so to be safe, I go with 33) When I open the "See cost breakdown" menu, it just says "Additional Handling". To give an example, on the most recent one, the original FedEx Home Delivery label cost $20.79, but the "adjustment" charged me an additional $35.02! This was to a buyer that I have sent several of these boxes of paper to over the last several months, so nothing weird about the location. (the address was entered correctly anyway when I bought the label) Ebay has done NOTHING to help me get to the bottom of it. They basically suggest I get a FedEx account on my own. I already have one, but the discount is nowhere near what eBay offers and I am encouraged by eBay to offer free shipping, so that is a non starter. In the last communication from eBay, they basically told me to stop asking about this issue or they may not respond further. Crazy!

Saw that cost adj thread (and many other related ones) wayy back. Should be somewhere in these community forums. Personally had a few of them myself over the yesra...Fedex seems to catch wrong package details quick (check out their Shipping surcharge FAQ for specifics).

The problem is I haven't violated any of their reasons for surcharges. Seems extremely arbitrary and capricious.

Hello,
I was curious if eBay actually has included the $10+ requirement in the policy documents.
This post isn't about disproving, or disbelieving you, more just curious if eBay actually has it written.
I glanced a few things and didn't see it.
If it's indeed true, I believe eBay should have this stated in their policy documents.
