Can I use a Walmart Box to ship an item to a buyer? or Should I wrap it brown paper so it appears as a normal box?

I wouldn’t use a Walmart box at all as your buyer would get the impression that you shipped from Walmart. You can get free priority shipping boxes from USPS 

Or you can turn the Walmart box inside out. You would need to tape it securely so it doesn’t come apart in transit.

You can use any box you want. From Wal-Mart, Home Dept, Amazon, Lowes, a clean box from dumpster diving etc. Just make sure it's sturdy and won't come apart.

If it is a box from something that was sent to you, make sure you cover the old shipping label!

Take a wide tip marker and cover any brand names on the box. I do that all the time. Maybe if you are worried about the buyer thinking it was shipped from/by brand X, make a notation on the receipt that you are reproposing a box.

When I reuse a box, I'll take a marker and mark through the name or logo.

Just to add, do not wrap in brown paper or use string.  This would be just asking for it to get caught in the sorting machines and generally would not be accepted by most carriers.

When I reuse a box with extraneous information I use Priority mail stickers to cover it up.

I reuse Amazon and Walmart boxes when I have them. I take them apart, turn inside out,  Reglue the flap and tape the tab down. 

once the glue dries it’s a sturdy as the original. 

As pointed out, I would not  just send the item in an Amazon or Walmart box. It gives your buyer the wrong impression. 

Don’t wrap boxes in brown paper. It can get stuck in the sorting equipment and your label could be ripped off.

The only exception to this is that you can't use any box that once contained alcohol. So shipping in a wine box is a no-no, but anything else is fine.

I would argue that. I reuse Amazon boxes all the time and never once have I had a buyer complain. In fact, I've had several buyers that I shipped their orders to in Amazon boxes come back and be regular customers.

You can re-use boxes that contained alcohol or other hazmat if you obliterate the product terms.  USPS even uses a vodka box as their "how to" example. You can use black marker as in the USPS poster  or as noted in another post, the free "Priority Mail" stickers are handy if that's how you're shipping; you can order them from the same page on usps.com where you order Priority boxes.  Or brown packaging tape; Uline even sells tape specifically for obliterating obsolete box markings.

I've done the same at times. They're loaded with my eBay shipping supplies (polymailer, tissue/sticker, thank you note) and outer sealed with my eBay tape. I've had no complaints when I've done it.

That’s fine. But I want the first impression my buyer gets not to be they got a delivery from Amazon.  I take a lot of care packing what I ship. My feedback reflects it.

So does mine. I've found that what buyers care about is receiving their purchase in one piece. What sort of box you ship in is irrelevant as long as it gets to the buyer safely.

You can re-use any box except the following..

Do NOT use a box that contained alcohol, flammable liquids, batteries, scented items, raw meat.

Do NOT use a box that contained a pricey item.  Example .. Do NOT use a box that contained an ipad to ship a 5 dollar action figure.  Someone might think that there is an ipad inside an steal the box off a porch/hallway. If you use a box from a pricey item or pricey store, put the entire box inside one of those plastic bag shipping envelopes.

I have started to cut up the padded Amazon envelops and use them as bubble wrap.  I would definitely cut out the portion that has your name (family member's name) and address.
