I just purchased an item on eBay for not a lot of money (less than $100). But when I got the tracking information for the package, the origin of the shipment was in a different state halfway across the country from the seller location that's given in the item listing. Is this unusual? First time I can remember this happening.

Could be a warehouse, seller may have more than one residence, could be selling for someone else etc.
The only thing you need to worry about is the estimated delivery date - if you do not receive the package you have 30 days to file a claim via the MBG.
I am sure all will be well

Could be a drop shipper. It happens with lot of sellers. Not to worry I guess, only worry for thing that @downunder-61 has mentioned as above.
Have a nice day.

Thanks. What I forgot to mention is that the seller has zero feedback reviews and only two other items listed. Well, it's no crime being new to eBay. And he could have relocated and forgotten to update his profile. I guess I'll wait and see.
