same tracking number error for multiple orders from same User ID

is there a way around the error "this tracking number is already associated with another active shipment" when you validly ship 2 orders together? Thanks!

If you had combined the shipping prior to printing the label you would not have had this problem.

If the buyer has not paid, place all of the items in your shipping container and weigh it.
Go to my ebay > SOLD > More actions > Send invoice
All of the buyer's purchases should show up. Change the shipping cost, preview, send.  

The buyer sends one payment, you print one label that includes both items, one tracking number is uploaded for both purchases.

It may be possible to go to PayPay to enter the tracking #.

Thanks, disneyshopper, we know how to send an invoice for multiple purchases, but the buyers did not ask for an invoice and they purchased outside of our normal business hours so we didn't catch it until they had already paid for both auctions separately. I don't feel the seller should be 'dinged' for not entering a valid tracking number or a tracking number that has no scans.

will entry of the tracking number via Paypal translate back to the eBay statistics that are kept for the seller?

You should usually be able to add the same tracking number to both transactions even if items were purchased separately IF the same eBay ID was used in both cases.  If they used a guest ID for each purchase, they would be different. Did you check to see if that was the case?

You can try adding it in Paypal and then check to see if it transferred over to eBay.

The user ID is definitely the same. We have already added information on the eBay side so it will not allow any tracking numbers to be entered on the Paypal side. We will have to remember to try the Paypal side first the next time someone does this.

Again, do not feel Seller should be dinged by this inadequacy.

I agree, you shouldn’t be penalized.  If you receive late shipment dings because of it, you should be able to phone ebay and get them taken off. Unfortunately, if you get dinged for uploaded and validated tracking it may not be possible to get those removed.
