returning an item please HELP

I purchased an item on ebay from a seller , that arrived from china, to me in the US.

I ordered it in purple & received it in red.

seller wanted me to pay to return it. & stated my refund would take a month to receive once they received the item!

this was unacceptable to me, as well as their offering for a partial refund.

after feeling the seller & I where not going to agree on a resolve , I contacted ebay.

ebay promptly refunded my money ,

& told me to keep the item, as ebay doesn't do returns outside of the united states.

I was a happy camper 🙂

but now I am receiving messages from this seller asking me to please return the item.

now saying they will put their money for the return postage into my paypal account so I can return it at no cost to me. & stating in order for them to do so they need my paypal address.

1st. off we have no idea what our paypal address is?

is it our email address?

we just got our paypal account a couple weeks ago, for the first time ever having a paypal account. & never used it at ebay before.

I asked the seller to send me theirs to help us identify what our paypal address looks like

their not going to..yet their wanting me to?

I feel badly for this seller

even though I feel their being a bit unfriendly about this.

we are willing to return it to them.

as I don't have any use for the item any way.

& was just going to give it to a lady I know that likes to sew, & unlike me...likes the color red.

but returning it to the seller seems fair if they'll pay for me to do so.

& the right thing to do.

I'm leary of this request however.

why would they trust me with their money???

I mean when the shoe was on the other foot & I was at their mercy, they refused to reimburse me till they also recived the item back.

& as I menchioned earlier the seller isn't willing to send me theirs.

now all the sudden their willing to trust me with their money ??? that their willing to add to my paypal account ?

it just seems fishy. odd to me.

would this transaction be safe on my behalf?

if it is our email address the seller is requesting for us to provide,

would we be risking reciving an email with a virus or worm or something once opened by us?

a possible retaliation on the sellers part?

or a possible scam of some sort that could enable this seller  to acess things I wouldn't want them to have acess to?

or is this a safe way to go about handling this?

is their a safer way to do this for both the seller & I ?

I did try googling for this information with no real luck.most of it was information for sellers.

although I did come across this information & advise ; (cutting & pasting to you)...

"the seller already has your ID in the PP transaction details that show your payment. He should be able to open that transaction and refund you from there, if it's still within 60 days of your cleared payment."(unquote)

I purchased this item on november 7th.

so I sent this information to the seller & this is the responce I got back from this seller this morning.(cutting & pasting)...

"you still not getting my point the thing you pulled out that for the item purchase and I have already refund you for that you can search" how to ask for payment in paypal" and you can also search see you tube videos that what is the process for getting payment from anyone, first of all do you have paypal account? if yes then you can call paypal and ask them that can you share your paypal address and is it safe or not as simple as that"(unquote)

as I told you , I did & I told this seller I did .

haven't the you tube suggestion though.

this is becoming very time consuming & agrivateing.

I'm trying to be nice & do the right thing!

& the last 2 times I tried to google a customer service phone number,I found myself talking with scammers!!

I would really appericate any advice or input anyone would be willing to provide me with.

thanks 🙂

@purplespirit1965

I am having a hard time reading the long block of text.

Did you receive a refund yet or not?

Sending the money to your Paypal account to pay return shipping is what the seller SHOULD have done to begin with.

They need the email address that's on your PayPal account to send you the money for return shipping.

Ebay allows the sharing of contact information after a recent transaction, just not before the sale.

If you have not received a refund yet then you MUST return the item using Priority Mail AND enter the tracking number into the request.

If you asked to return it because it didn't match, the seller is responsible for the return shipping cost up front. They have two choices. They can refund in full or pay you a minimum $50 return shipping cost up front and refund when tracking shows delivered.  (The cheapest  shipping cost that provides tracking to China costs over $50)   So I am pretty sure they would just refund unless the item was expensive.

When eBay refunded didn't they tell you you're not required to return the package? When you ask eBay for help and they saw the seller wasn't taking responsibility and was  telling you that you had to pay return shipping they step in and refund and don't require you to return it.

Your paypal address is your e-mail address you use to sign into your Paypal account.

If eBay has resolved the case, there's no obligation to return the item. But if the seller wants to send you the money to return it, there's nothing wrong with that, however from your message and info given I suspect it may be a bit of a hassle for you to figure out the international shipping return. They aren't trying to retaliate and steal your info with an e-mail address, so don't worry. They actually would already have your e-mail from the sale. I would just tell them sorry, case is closed and move on.

Sellers no longer receive the buyer's email address unless they know how to look at the PayPal transaction.   If a seller is in MP ( not likely with a China seller) then a PayPal email address is needed.   Sellers only receive a disguised randomized email address now that can not be used to send or receive money on paypal.
