Did you mean:

"The item you are trying to purchase is not available for purchase in your location."

I have been using eBay to buy lots of vintage swizzle sticks for my home bar for years now, though not nearly as often as before. Yesterday I found a great set (156462225960) but got this error message: "The item you are trying to purchase is not available for purchase in your location. You cannot buy this item. {e243621-1256241x}"

I am based in the US, as is my seller. I've checked all my address information to be sure that it's accurate, and I have had my bank account, Paypal, and debit card (all US-based) added to my account, which is two decades old and has been used for dozens of purchases and sales, the most recent back in spring. The seller even took down the listing and put up a new one with as few shipping restrictions as possible, but the error message persists. This is not the only seller or listing where I have encountered the issue (266653222669 is just one of several others).

Any thoughts? I'm at the end of my rope and eBay support has mostly shrugged at me.

Some states may not allow them to be sold.

You in California by chance?

I'm in Missouri and the seller is in Connecticut. The other listing I mentioned is in Kentucky. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason.

Are swizzle sticks illegal in California? LOL!

Would that surprise anyone since they don't allow single use straws in restaurants?

I was thinking along the same lines.  They have banned plastic bags and straws, so probably swizzle sticks as well.  But then I saw the OP is not in California but in Missouri.  So who knows what the problem is?

@errengale

I’m in Canada and I see the same message when I try to buy either of the seller’s swizzle stick listings which do have EIS shipping.   I checked a few listings from other sellers and I had the same problem but only eith some of them.  It seems like the only ones that I had a problem with had plastic in the item specifics. Ask your seller if they would take that out of the item specifics on that listing and see if it helps.

Although some single used plastics are banned in Canada, it doesn’t look like they are banned in Missouri.  But even if they were banned, I don’t think that eBay  does ban items by state so your problem is odd. Even if eBay didn’t allow them to be sold here,I would  normally have the option of changing my shipping address. Actually, they would usually just not show Canada as a ship to address with the EiS so the fact that I’m shown a shipping cost but not able to purchase the item is odd as well.

I once had a buyer receive a similar message when trying to purchase one of my items (both of us in the U.S.).  It turns out one of my dimensions was inadvertently listed as 125” in length, incompatible with shipping USPS Ground Advantage.  Once I corrected it to 12”,

the sale could go through.  Have your seller double-check the dimensions and weight for compatibility with the shipping service.
