So we have a new postal carrier on our route and we've received 2 days of mail from other addresses and I suppose it was our turn to finally have our mail sent elsewhere. The tracking shows "delivered- parcel box" and rather than deliver the package to our house, the carrier decided to put it in on of those community boxes with 20 or so small individual mail boxes and 2 keyed parcel doors. The carrier is supposed to put the key in that person's small mail box for oversized boxes. My parcel was put in a parcel box and the carrier either took the key with them or put the key in the wrong person's mail box. I have no idea who was given the key. We even have our own private security box by the front door just for parcels, but the carrier never checked. What are my options?
1) contact the seller and have them do an insurance claim?
2) tracking shows delivered, just to the wrong person. Do I file a SNAD if the seller doesn't respond?
What are my responsibilities? I took a picture of where it was delivered- the box is closed, the key gone and dropped in somebody's mail slot. I just have no way to get it. I paid PayPal with credit card.

This isn't something eBay or your seller can fix.
Tracking shows delivery. You would not be refunded.
This is something you would need to take up with your local post master.

I think you would file a INR. If you file SNAD that would mean that you received it, and it's not as described.

Have you considered waiting a day or two? You know - just because if a neighbor did get the key to your parcel box, they might think it would be proper to bring it to you?

1) No - the package shows delivered on the tracking.
2) Not as described makes no sense and the seller is allowed to ask for it to be sent back before refunding so you would be stuck anyway unless you decide to send back a brick or other fake package - which would just be adding insult to injury.
Look - you need to be all over your post office and your carrier about this. Your problem is about as local to you as it could possibly get. Leave your seller out of this and go raise heck at your post office or with your neighbors who share that box.

Don't wait - contact the PO as soon as possible while there is still at least a little chance of the carrier remembering what he did with the package and/or key. The sooner the better.

You need to contact your PO since they were the ones that made the mistake.
An insurance claim won't do any good because tracking shows it was delivered
You can't file an INAD because you haven't received anything yet.

The OP stated the tracking shows the package was delivered. They would lose an INR case in a NY second.
If they filed an INAD they have nothing to return and would lose.
The OP need to take this issue up with their local PO post master for resolution.
Yes postal carriers and even Amazon delivery folks "screw" things up - ours miss delivers all too often.

Are you telling me this, or the OP? You're the second person that's pointed out my mistake. Wouldn't you let the OP know this? They asked the questions, not me.

I had that happen to me recently and my neighbor brought the package back to me. Inquire with the postal service as they may have a GPS record of where the packages were actually placed. I filed a complaint with my postmaster when this happened, and the postal worker that made that mistake actually came to my house with the next shipment and apologized to me and will probably be extra careful from now on.

I am a mail carrier and after 21 years I still make the occasional mistake.
What to do:
#1 Call your delivering Post Office. Tell them the package was delivered to a parcel locker but not YOUR parcel locker. Ask them to check the GPS and recover the package.
#2 If this is not possible then file a Loss claim with USPS and contact the seller.

I tried to edit but it won't let me.
#3 MAKE SURE your address is clearly able to be read from the street. I have been giving notices to all my customers that I will be retiring in February, mailboxes need to be cleared of weeds, flags replaced on those without them, and addresses on the approaching sides because the route may be serviced by subs
from other offices for a few months prior to hiring and training.

OP had a duplicate thread & accepted a response there:
