need help with refund/return shipping label

Buyer messaged that item is damaged. Return for a full refund is the plan. I want to send a pre-paid shipping label. But ebay is not part of the equation and I'm not sure what to do. What's the best way to create and send the label. Will messaging it as an image work?  Is it okay to do it that way or should I request the buyer file for a return?

request the buyer file for a return (eBay will be in the equation regardless when the money is refunded--even if you refund directly through PayPal, eBay is notified)

Have buyer open "return request" and then Buyer can print return label and EBAY has record of transaction.  Everything must be done with EBAY return system (EBAY refund "sales tax" to buyer and refund your Seller Fees).
