getting a refund

Can you help me?

I bought something on eBay on Jun 15, 2017.

I really wanted to cancel an order before shipping, but they said they can't.

SO, I have to receive it and return it.

I opened the return and later, eBay sends me to return an item by Jun 26, 2017.

Even it's estimated delivery date was Jun 26 and I got a package on Jun 23, 2017 !!!

I'm a foreigner, and because of my trip preparation, I didn't have time to check the package.

So, I send the return package Jun 29.

And I wait for the refund. But I haven't got any refund and eBay said

"To receive a refund, buyers need to return the item within the required time frame after the seller has accepted a return request. This item wasn't returned to the seller on time. "

What can I do?

I'm a little confused.  Did you begin the return process BEFORE you received the item?

According to the US return policy, you have 5 business days to return a product once it is approved for return.

It does sound like you opened the return before you even received the item. Dishonest on your part and now you are paying for it.

You jumped the gun and then you didn't follow the rules. You got the item 3 days earlier than expected and you still sent it back late! Ebay requires us all to follow the rules if we want their help. Do you have tracking showing it was delivered to the seller?

Then you mean I had to open the return after I got it?

In the future you may want to: 1) change your mind before you commit to buy the item. 2)or wait until you receive the item and open a return for correct reason (buyers remorse), and then 3) send it back on your dime with tracking as required by ebay policy. Some sellers would grant the cancellation before shipping while others will not. So make sure you want the item before committing to buy it would eliminate the headache for both parties in the future.

You can't open a PayPal dispute because this is remorse.

But if you paid with a credit card and you have tracking showing the return was delivered, you can file a chargeback using the reason Merchandise returned, credit not received.
