Recently bought a bunch of stuff that included several bundles of USPS priority boxes, just took them to my local Post Office and dropped them off

Take them to your nearest post office. You can leave them in the lobby and someone will definitely need them.

As above... most post office lobbies have some kind of rack holding Priority Mail shipping supplies and similar. The non-Priority stuff that they sell (ReadyPost and similar) is kept in the inside lobby to be sold over the counter, but the outer unlocked lobby holds the free giveaway Priority materials. Just take your stuff in and refill the stock.

Rack seems to be for Flat Rate boxes only, where they can make the most money.

Some types of boxes the post office can't order, so always happy to get those.
You can also get you carrier to take them back for you.

My PO has one of each different type of PM boxes attached to the wall. Not in the outside lobby. They have a stack of boxes behind the counter and you have to ask for one.
I took my extras there when I heard the clerk tell someone in front of me in line they were out of the shoe box and the large board game box.
I'm sure your PO will take them off your hands.

Box can be turned inside out and reused. If writing on the inside of box just use a brown paper bag to wrap it and reuse it. We in San Francisco reuse all boxes and paper bags....well, I do anyway.

No, you shouldn't. If the post office recognizes the box, you will end up paying the retail priority rate.
Stop cheating the post office.

My postmaster orders those boxes to her house and brings them in tho the lobby....she got frustrated that they would not let her order them to the store...

Depending upon where you are, it may be, or may not be possible to "give" a Post Office the boxes.
The "flat rate" packaging is pretty much the only thing that is supposed to be stocked Priority box wise. Idea is to up-sell to increase revenue.
Offices can not order the boxes (other than flat rate) that we order via their internal supply chain, and are directed not to have them.
USPS wants grandma to use that "medium flat rate" box rather than a similar size box when sending that gift out just a hundred miles or so away. $17 rather than $10-12 (or less) (and that is after they try to "sell" grandma on sending it Priority Express)
