ebay international shipping seller protection NOT!

I sold a item on 1/20/22 that shipped using ebay international standard delivery to Brazil

Tracking # UA934796177US.

Never arrived, crazy tracking with 100,000 miles or so of travel and dozens of scans still shows "in transit"

Buyer opened claim, I refunded them,  then thought that I could file a claim and get reimbursed just like ebay advertised I would if I used ebay  international standard delivery and a package did not make it to its destination

Filed claim and it was auto rejected as not covered.

Any idea why?

Filing a claim on a shipment that was lost or damaged

Each eBay international standard delivery shipment includes a $100 shipping protection plan to help in case of lost or damaged items.

If you believe your package was lost in shipping, you must wait 30 days to file a claim. You can reduce the amount of the claim if your shipment was only partially lost or damaged, however the claim amount cannot be more than the item's sold price.

To file a claim, select the button below and add the following information to the form:

  1. Tell us what happened - was your item damaged, or was your package lost?
  2. Enter the claim information and your PayPal email address.
  3. Enter the following additional information:
    • Your first & last name
    • The buyer’s first & last name
    • Package tracking number
    • eBay item number
    • Screenshot of eBay Order Details
    • Screenshot of buyer’s complaint message or dispute details regarding the lost or damaged item

So ... here's the thing. UA tracking numbers are not EISD (eBay International Standard Delivery) shipments. EISD shipments have ESUS numbers.

UA tracking numbers come with the GSP (Global Shipping Program). I checked your sales from 1/20 and confirmed that GSP was offered.

The process for EISD and GSP are different.

With EISD you refund the buyer then file a lost package claim.

With GSP, eBay is the one that needs to refund the buyer. Any time you refund voluntarily, you're outta luck on getting reimbursed.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news on this, man.

Please disregard my above post. UA numbers are provided by USPS for packages that ship internationally but aren't  on the e-delcon list.

You shipped direct with USPS. You did not use either of eBay's shipping programs. Brazil is not on the USPS e-delcon list which means you do not get door-to-door tracking. Package was uninsured.

The result is the same - you have no recourse to get a refund on this. You did the right thing by refunding since eBay would have forced it if you didn't volunteer it.

Ultimately the seller chooses the shipping method. You chose to use USPS which does not offer tracking to Brazil, so there is no seller protection.
