I searched for an item for my computer using the filter US only. I found what I thought I needed listed in California. I paid for it and waited for 10 days or more. It came and doesn't work on my computer. I requested a return, eBay sent me a message that my return was approved and gave me an address to ship it back to... it's in China? I suppose if I want my refund I have to ship it to China? I tried to contact eBay but I just get the message that they will step in only after I have returned the item?

Some Chinese sellers hide their location, it's a bad pratice but all you need to do it's send to seller adress on listining details on botton of page. it must be there.

Look at the invoice you paid.
The seller's US address should be there.
This appears to be a case of Buyer Remorse (you ordered the wrong size) and you are responsible for return shipping to get a refund.
You can return the item to the invoice address. Use tracking.
Or since the only problem with the part is that it is the wrong part for your machine, resell it on eBay or on a local advertising site.

@inboxutah A seller can not require you to return an item to another country even for remorse returns unless they pay return shipping.
I suggest you contact CS and tell them that the seller is not following ebay's rules. The best place to contact CS is on social media
Contact customer service by sending a private message on social media. You leave a message and an eBay employee will get back to you as soon as possible. To speed things up you can leave your registered account information in the PRIVATE message: Full name, address, phone number, email address, user ID, and a brief explanation of your problem.
