Hey fellow ebay sellers, will we be able to use the "ebay Standard Envelope" to ship other things like Event Ticket Stubs, Sports Patches, Pins, Photographs or Postcards and stuff like that. Stuff that is just an ounce or so and are inexpensive. If they will not allow this I will be increasing my minimum shipping charge from $3.50 to $4.00.

BTW: Dazzel / Endicia postage meter software also prints a bar code on the envelopes and in the meter log, it gives a tracking number, that you might guess is for tracking but the post office doesn't use it and their system can't even read it.

There is a barcode label that looks just like the example on this trackletters.com site.
So this barcode will be scanned?

I'm guessing so.

I sent out several cards I sold this morning. Trying the new shipping program. However when I brought the items to the post office the guy tried to scan the items and nothing popped up in their system. Now I am worried I don't have a way to track these items. Even though when you print shipping label it gives you a tracking number, ESUSXXXXX. I guess I am going to have to contact all my buyers to let them know I am using the new shipping program and I dont have a way to track it and ask them if they will let me know when they receive.. I don't know what else to do .. Anyone else, having issues.?

The tracking number is an EasyShip tracking number. It will NOT work at the USPS website. Parcelsapp.com will show the info, though.
The label formatting is specific to a service, so it makes sense that the folks at your local PO haven't seen one like that. Once your mailpiece reaches the sorting center, though, there is potential for problems.
There are many requirements for the position and formatting of this type of postage, and the label you print from eBay labels is noncompliant as printed. You can easily adjust it to become compliant if you don't mind cutting out your labels or using another piece of software to get rid of the extra whitespace before you print.
In addition to the address needing to be parallel to the long edge of the envelope, the seven parallel lines above the buyer's address need to be within 1/4 inch of the top of your envelope, and the QR code (the bit by your ZIP code in tiny writing) needs to be in the upper right hand corner of the envelope. This lets postal machinery scan the envelope. A few noncompliant labels might squeak by, but the more you ship, the greater the risk of a big batch of your mail being rejected for noncompliance.
I have reached out to eBay multiple days in a row now, and I have yet to speak with someone who's even familiar with the standard envelope before I bring it up. They assure me they'll pass my concerns along, but who knows how long that will take? eBay really needs to get to work on offering a compliant label, but they also need to educate people on how this label should be applied.

Don't contact the buyers yet. Wait to see if tracking information shows up later after it has had a chance to go through the sorting center.

This new service would only be if you wanted a tracking #. You can still ship a card first class with no tracking for cheaper.

The new service is cheaper than regular First Class letter postage!

Same issues here. I’m nervous to keep using these until we find out more.

I had the same issue at the post office...any way we can get some clarification on this?

Cheaper than 51 cents?

@comics-scifi-collectibles Thank you for the tag. I have made sure the information provided here has gone to the correct team for review.

From what we have learned, the tracking is done through sorting machines. When shipping PWE, we add a non-machinable stamp to bypass these as to not risk destroying cards. So, with this new "Standard Envelope", we have 1 choice - 1.) Ship without a non-machine charge and take the risk of damaging cards but have tracking (until final sorting destination at least as actual delivery tracking is probably not possible) . Peachy.

It says trackable but my mail person couldn't scan any of the labels with her hand scanner when these where picked up
