Hey fellow ebay sellers, will we be able to use the "ebay Standard Envelope" to ship other things like Event Ticket Stubs, Sports Patches, Pins, Photographs or Postcards and stuff like that. Stuff that is just an ounce or so and are inexpensive. If they will not allow this I will be increasing my minimum shipping charge from $3.50 to $4.00.

Ebay is interfering again in the seller's domain! How will this work? Must sellers purchase these card envelopes ahead of time and how much will they cost? I am a small seller and but sold about 2000 single cards over the last year. I have shipped all of them in a PWE with and without plastic loaders along with a packing slip and my business card which offers protection against normal handling. My cost is somewhere around $.60 each. If I understand things. The cost of shipping cards in the new eBay envelope will cost me $1.00. I will have to increase my shipping price to buyers by at least $.40. I don't foresee buyers liking that. If a card is valued at $20.00 or more then I will ship them in a sleeve and a padded envelope. I am willing to take the risk for the possibility of a rare card damage in a PWE. NONE of my cards were damaged within the last year and I have had no complaints. Sellers know how to sell their product without eBays guiding hand.

You do not have to use the new shipping option. The price hasn't been specified; the announcement only said "under $1."

Does anyone know when eBay standard envelope will go live? All I've seen is January 2021, and it's the 19th of January as I post this. Trying to be proactive and prepare ahead ...

It does the same thing if you simply look at "stamps" it doesn't give the real number but the proportion is still there. at this time there are over 3.7mm stamps in 8 of the subcats, I say over because, I didn't feel like going through them all and adding them up for sale but that doesn't change my original comment that trading cards aren't the only ones that should be able to use this new method.

Big thumbs up on this one - there is a LOT of debate about what where and the other BUT - as far as I can tell - it is not even AVAILABLE yet. All sources said in "January 2021" sure but it is the 22nd of the month now so that deadline is coming up quick!

Hi all, came here looking for the same answers. I spoke with customer rep last week who was very helpful in explaining that I would simply need to choose the eBay Standard Envelope option, but now I've made my first applicable sale, and it's not showing as an option. Was gonna call back but sounds like no one is able to find this service yet. Adding my two cents here to stay informed when this service is ready.

Same here. I made a sale that had the ebay standard envelope shipping selected but now there is no way to print a label for it. Maybe they are not done rolling it out?

On another thread couple of days ago, an eBay staff member confirmed that this service will not be available in January.

Same here - tried setting up a shipping policy and selected eBay standard envelope as the drop down option but when you try to save the policy you get an error saying it's not valid. Sounds like it's not active yet.

What a cruel tease, to show it like that!

is it possible that that seller is part of one of these "pilot programs" eBay rolls out from time to time? Seems I recall a few people suddenly found them self in a few of those over the years - all without warning or consent?

Based on info in another thread, I as able to select the new envelope as a shipping method when setting up and scheduling a listing for a sports card. Apparently the information that Griff provided ("Not in January") was inaccurate.
I was even able to use "Sell similar" to offer the new envelope as shipping in a completely different category, but probably it wouldn't actually be available for shipping that item much as Media Mail isn't offered for purchasing labels for items in many categories even when the seller can choose it when setting up the listing.

Interesting to know! Thanks for sharing.
Wonder if anyone has printed one of these and what it looks like?
But is USPS on board with this yet? Shouldn't there be some kind of announcement through official channels?

I've been following this thread and the new postage is for Trading Cards only.
Beginning in January, we’re introducing eBay standard envelope: a low-cost service via eBay Labels to securely ship single, ungraded trading cards, priced $20 and under.
Here’s a bit more about what this means for you:
Single, ungraded cards priced at $20 and under (and up to 3 oz.) can be shipped in the US in an envelope - with tracking included - for less than $1
This is a saving of up to 70% vs. USPS First Class Package Service shipping costs, plus it includes shipping protection.
The new service is exclusive on the eBay labels platform and will allow you to meet eBay’s Top Rated Plus requirements, which includes additional selling perks.

I have not added this shipping option to my listings yet but I do have that option. When I go to my items that need to be shipped it is giving me the standard envelope shipping option. Problem is I don't know how to print the label as it only gives you the option to print the label 4x6 or 8x11. Does anyone know how to actually print the label or what size label to use?
Oh, and as you can see from the pic it is saying the cost is .51.
