Did you mean:

eBay still needs to be protecting Sellers from late deliveries.

I recently had to file another Missing mail piece claim with USPS and here is one of the replies they sent me as part of the claim process:

Thank you for contacting the U.S. Postal Service.  This is in response to your recent inquiry regarding your package.

The Postal Service is experiencing unprecedented volume increases and limited employee availability due to the impacts of COVID-19.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We regret any inconvenience this matter has caused.

Sincerely,

Your United States Postal Service

Sellers still need (at a minimum) the promised protection from the December 8 announcement on the subject.  Someone told me eBay discontinued the 10 day INR claim extension for Sellers in mid-January, does anyone know if that is true or not?

...eBay needs to stop sending message to buyers for guarantee delivery time...how could eBay know for sure when package will be arrived when eBay is not any of the couriers (USPS, UPS, FedEx...etc...)...even them cannot guarantee, they ONLY provide ESTIMATE time of delivery (USPS, I know for sure...)

...just another thing eBay better fix it up...it's not only helping sellers but both, sellers and buyers...

I just received messages and/or INRs from buyers (I think 6 total) for packages that I shipped out on 2/22. All of them say "Arriving Late" in the USPS tracking page.

I'm also noticing increased impatience from these buyers compared to those during the holiday season. 3 of them mentioned "I've been waiting a LONG TIME for the package", when they just have been waiting 7 calendar days. Two of them lectured me on how to run my business and how upset they are with me because I don't ship out when I promise (fyi, they were all shipped out within my 1 day handling time). Finally one got really mad at me because I took too long to reply to them (1 day). One of them even called me a liar claiming there is no Covid delay.

The wording these buyers use is quite rude, stubborn, and arrogant.

...I feel your pain...

...I sent some documents to a federal agency in London, Kentucky by using Priority Flat Rate Envelope which normally would take up to the most 3 days to be delivered, this time it took 12 days...

...all my bills I have been sending out at least 10 days before the due date, this particular last month one bill was already posted 5 days behind that created late fee...when I called to confront the late fee charge, the CS rep. blamed the USPS, so I told him that it's not his company fault, nor mine as I have been consistency sending my bill as usual but PO, why do any of us have to take the blame and specially on my side to lose money by paying the USPS mistake...?....well, he agreed and credit back the fee for me...I'm so thankful for his understanding and so sorry that I forgot to wait for a brief survey to give him an outstanding 5-star service that he deserved...

...USPS will dip more troubles in finances when more people would rather paying bills online than mailing out and get dent for late fee charges (I'm going to mostly online payments in next month) that leads to less stamps selling...the contract they are having with Amazon, in my point-of-view, is a corruption contract...whomever represented them must have pocketed a secret envelope from Bezos when signing the deal...from $1 to $2 now to deliver each heavy, over-sized package (personal training tools such a treadmills, bicycles, weight lifting, mattresses, beds, tires...etc...) is a huge lost when overtime hour-paid rate for high seniority mailman is at least $40 and the most fastest carrier can only deliver to door up to 18 packages in an hour...not to forget to mention the clerk's wages, fuels cost for postal truck, rental building (most USPS facilities are rental properties from Federal Landmark), the wear and tear of equipment...etc...do the math to see the lost...

...the new Postmaster can't fix the within broken systems...it seems like he "goes along to get along"...

Hey buddy you're not alone. I'm dealing with the same exact thing.

I have not been shipping that many via USPS though the low cost items I have shipped via USPS 1st Class Package are being delayed. About 50% of what has been shipped are delayed.

The packages are making it to the buyers though 8-14 calendar days is about the norm on the late deliveries.

Anything of value has been shipped UPS Ground and having good results.

Will be following this thread to see if anyone has updates on eBay's processes on INR.

NOT True!

I filed a WHOLE bunch of INR cases in February just to test things out.  Way I figured it was that seller would get off their backside and file MM cases with the USPS or I'd "get in line."   In EVERY case, eBay extended the time for the seller to respond by 10-days!  I kinda expected that and part of the reason to file the INR case IMMEDIATELY - why not start the clock now, rather than 5 days from now.

Now that said, heave seen sellers report that the dreaded call to CS can lead to those extensions being applied, so not sure if it is an eBay 'thing' or a seller generated result.

@no_zero369   Thanks for confirming that eBay was still extending INR claims (upon request I assume) in February ...

100% agree! I have 13 out of 29 Priority packages I mailed out of Havana IL on Feb 24 rd. The 13 in ? do not show any further scan since  arriving at Champaign IL Feb 25th, not even a departure scan of leaving Champaign! Already got 1 buyer messaging me & complaining.

Since November they have protected me just enough to keep my late at 4% which is useless.

@no_zero369   The issue that we have experienced is squarely on the carrier, USPS in  our case.  We had a package going from PA to VA (duh, you only have to drive through one state to get there) that went as far south as Texas and back to a hub in VA and sat for 60 days, NEVER was delivered.  I just had one last week get stuck as the SAME VA bulk mail center, I had to file the Missing mail piece claim with USPS and 2 days later it got delivered ... but Sellers shouldn't have to do that, it is a waste of time.  How can they find and deliver something in 2 days that has already sat in the same place for 7 days?!?  On a certain level I think some of this whole late shipping thing by USPS is intentional.

Wow!  That sounds particularly bad!  Too bad there isn't some kind of rewards system for mileage traveled!  Just think of the 'frequent shipper' points you could wrack up on a package that takes a USA tour.

Yeah, seems like there are certain centers where things are still getting stuck.  Have to wonder if there are other problems other than COVID and weather issues?

But I can see your frustration - the extra time involved.  But hey, I know you know sometimes a seller has gotta do what they gots to do.  Let's just hope and pray for some 'normalcy' this summer!

I thought USPS workers would be "essential workers" like 1A or 1B.  My carrier says they haven't told him when he is eligible and if he can get the time off to stand in line to get shots.  Seems like there needs to be a priority there over some 18-year old working in a grocery store!?

Hang in there!👍

@no_zero369   Our local Post Office is small but has not had a single worker out with Covid and they are in more contact with the public then a lot of people.  The bulk centers are large facilities, lots of space between work stations (I've toured 3 of them) and its not skilled labor, they place packages on conveyors and the system pretty much does the rest.  No excuse for not being able to keep them manned and staffed properly ... and I'm not buying any stories about workers at bulk centers being any less cautious with Covid protocols or living in a higher risk geography then those who work in the smaller and more confined Post Offices ... nope,

Paying for UPS Ground to ship a $14 order today to Jamison PA. Makes this order a loser, but better than a headache with USPS.

Shipping other orders from Texas to CA and Alabama via USPS 1st Class. I expect these to make it in a timely manner.
