Hi,
I am selling some low-cost banknotes/cards and sending them with the eBay standard envelope. I know it has problems with tracking, and some of shipments stuck on origin processing or out for delivery but it seems all of my buyers received the item. Last Saturday I put one envelope on a USPS drop box I used before. It always showed origin processing on the following Monday before but this time the tracking only says “tracking number provided” for 4 days now. There is not even a “label created”. I tried trackmyshipment.co and universal parcel tracking and it looks like the tracking number is not in the system yet. What should I do now? Am I in postage due? Will I get the shipment sent back or it’s just simply lost? The buyer hasn’t contact me, the order is only 5 bucks but I am still very frustrated
thank you all.

eBay Standard Envelope doesn't have a Delivered scan, only a routing code, so the best you will see is an Out for Delivery scan following some scans along the way to show that it's en route; the carrier doesn't do a scan on it. It's kind of based on the Honor System with your buyer, because if he files an Item Not Received dispute, you are expected to refund, and then seek restitution from eBay.
While there may not be any scans yet, if your buyer has not complained yet, you don't have a problem. Don't contact him to basically say that you don't know where it is, but if he contacts you, just assure him that you are checking on it every day (which you apparently are), and if it doesn't show up on the radar within the coming week or so, you will be happy to refund, and plan to do so if necessary. Good luck.

You have to wait. There's nothing you could do if the envelope is not being scanned. 4 days is way too long
That's why, I never use the drop box. You need to stand in line, hand your packages to clerk and watch them scanned. It seems waste of time but you'll never fill this bad anymore
Don't worry, USPS rarely loses a package. You have no choice but to wait. Sometimes packages never get scanned till delivery. This happens for many reasons. One being; scanning packages on each step of delivery isn't mandatory

I always wait in line to get my package scanned and get a receipt. But the eBay standard delivery envelope works just like the regular stamped first class mail so there is no way USPS can scan it manually. I can hand it over to a clerk but there is still no receipt.

If you want ease of mind, ask for a scan and don't drop it in the box anymore. All packages with tracking need to be scanned

Thank you for the reply. I just got a positive feedback from that buyer. Yet the tracking still says tracking provided only and the label is not in the system. This delivery service is so broken…

eBay Standard Envelope is . . . a First Class Letter envelope. Not a package. It does not have USPS tracking. Ask all you want, it won't get a scan from a clerk or carrier.

Mine says out for delivery but there is one problem. It is showing out for delivery in a city over an hour away from me.

That would be the last scan at the distribution center closest to your address
Mail carriers have no way to scan these they are only scanned at the distribution/sorting centers
"out for delivery" means out the door at that center, you should get your item in 1-2 days
