eBay's Label Flow suggestion to NOT use USPS .... WRONG SOLUTION EBAY!

I printed a couple labels before ever noticing that suggestion eBay has posted about considering a different carrier other than USPS ... I actually heard about it at the Post Office from a Postal Clerk .... THEY ARE LIVID!!!!

The solution is for eBay to DELAY Item not received claims from being processed by Buyers AND put a big note on the eBay Cart about expecting longer deliveries with ALL carriers NOT just USPS.

Gee, that would be common sense thing to do ... is that eBay's CYA statement so they can side with Buyers on INR claims in their never ending ongoing agenda to "Enhance the Buying experience by letting Buyers get as much as they can for free?

I do not understand that at all. Most people unless they are living in Timbuktu know there is a problem with deliveries.

Correct, its only the ones trying to get free stuff that make an issue of it via an INR at their earliest convenience ... but like I and other have stated, eBay can solve the problem by putting off the ability to file INRs ... I've had several customers let me know whipping is late in their state and more than one of those from North Carolina ...

Oh dear - there must be quite a line-up of miscreants waiting for their punishment. And probably a few masochistic hopefuls mixed in.

LOL, I was REALLY hoping folks missed that miss spelling!!!  Nobody likes their whipping to be late right?!?  They like things whipped right on time!?!

On dot ca, the solution we get at nauseum is use another carrier....We have Canadapost & Canadapost. We could use UPS/Fedex Ground for Canada but then fees for pick ups and anything residential/minimum volumes  or the suggestion that has us rolling in the aisles, Flat Rate/Free Shipping for EVERYWHERE.  🤣🤣😂🤣🤣  The only option we have for calculated shipping is with Canadapost inside of eBay which doesn't help the situation. And we don't have anything like Media Mail Service in Canada. Can you say between rock and hard place? We can actually mail a small package to Florida or California for cheaper than one across Canada. And eBay Canada does not get Canadian sellers any kind of discount with Canadapost. That was turfed over 2 years ago. I believe it was flagged as an "improvement" by eBay. Any discount we do qualify for is driven by what we personally ship per 12 month period.

Been using USPS for over 15 years on here. Never lost a package or had really late deliveries using priority mail . Excellent service until this postmaster decided to shake things up.

Re: eBay's Label Flow suggestion to NOT use USPS .... WRONG SOLUTION EBAY!

@mr_lincoln,

I haven't had to ship anything in the last two weeks so this is the first I've heard of the notice.  My personal reaction to it would be that ebay will need to send a bunch of employees to my home and literally drag me to a UPS store or a Fed-ex drop off box and hold guns to my head to make sure I drop off the packages, before I will use those services.

One item I shipped on the 2nd, Parcel Select, Mi. to Ca. was only one day late. 3 other packages shipped on the 3rd, Priority Mail, all arrived on time.  Most of my recent purchases have arrived on time as well only one was delayed.

Maybe what ebay needs to do is give realistic estimated delivery time frames, rather than trying to base them on sellers past performance.

Seems oddly coincidental, doesn't it,  that just when USPS is fighting for is life, ebay would suggest on its shipping label page that there are delays with USPS deliveries and suggesting we use another shipper.  Buyers have not once complained to me about slow delivery . . . Priority Mail continues to arrive in 2-3 days . . . my own purchases always arrive on time. . . and for all of my sales USPS continues to beat the competition when it comes to shipping costs.   Makes one wonder who's behind ebay's statement!

I am glad you have had good experiences so far: a great deal of others have had problems and lost money due to the problems of the USPS at this time.  Complete disappearing packages delays so long one has to refund, not scan in packages and so on. Read the boards if you do not believe. Yes the virus time are part of the cause.

I don't blame eBay making deals with other companies.

The thought of using other couriers would be fine if it was apples for apples, but sellers can't be upping shipping prices, especially on low value items. They need an accurate calculator with no add on charges after the fact(as has been reported numerous times). Everything I've heard and seen, the other couriers are having just as difficult a time keeping up with the added volume. Throw in the fact no one is asking for a signature doesn't help the situation. Until the "certain" buyers come to their senses regarding their delivery expectation and/or eBay realizes many of claim are not genuine, sellers are going to get hung out to dry. There ARE going to be delays for the foreseeable future. Then holding sellers to blame for any late deliveries(auto refunds with no back door to hold the buyer accountable, when they did get what they ordered) is just wrong.

Re: eBay's Label Flow suggestion to NOT use USPS .... WRONG SOLUTION EBAY!

Just updating on this post because last week I experienced a nightmare with about 30 percent of what I shipped looking really late and one looking really lost. On the phone with several PO’S after trace reports for customer’s who were all very nice and patient with me and NOT with the PO. I began to imagine scenarios of thousands of dollars of my items going to people for free because Ebay in their infinitesimal bowing down to the buyer will give this stuff to them in a refund and then my items will be delivered the next day. So, I switched to FED EX, not becuase i want to spend more money and loose profits but because giving away thousands of dollars in merchandise is not my idea of how to run a business here. Extending the delivery estimates on all the carriers is th only way to do this right.

Re: eBay's Label Flow suggestion to NOT use USPS .... WRONG SOLUTION EBAY!

Selling model train items most of my items are less than 1 lbs. Some items get delivered on time others with a slight delay. I my self would not fare well with the higher rates charged by UPS and FEDEX  as price plus shipping would drive buyers away. To deal wit the delays I opted out of the guarantied delivery program so buyers will not get a false expectation for when the item will arrive. For handle time I usually meet 1 business day or same day during the week. I extended my handle time from 1 day to 3 days so when the buyer gets the estimated delivery date at the time of the sale with I will gain 2 extra days to cover possible delays. I may actually change the handle time to 5 business days or more. As with me still meeting my normal 1 business day to ship the longer the handle time if there is a delay or not my buyers will get the item a little earlier than expected or on time.

Re: eBay's Label Flow suggestion to NOT use USPS .... WRONG SOLUTION EBAY!

How does eBay honestly think that asking sellers to shell out of their own pockets for more expensive shipping is the correct approach? It's so self-serving. eBay certainly can't be bothered to improve the precious buyer experience; that's all on us! Their misanthropy toward sellers is a never-ending joke at this point.

Used Fedex several times 2 shipments smashed, and 1 shipment late delivery cost me poor feedback reply.

I am not sure there is a solution as all carriers are late, and some more abusive than others.
