I insure all my packages. Insurance cost is very high on eBay postage options in compared to other sites. Hope, eBay corrects this issue before Christmas season

You may want to consider self insuring by setting aside a small amount from each sale into your insurance fund. A figure somewhere around 0.1% to 0.5% should be adequate for shipping issues. If you are having scammer issues, the rate would be much higher.
USPS insurance costs roughly 2% of the declared value. My experience shipping with USPS, over 6000 packages, only one was lost or mis-delivered. That one was a $200 item to the UK sent as a 1st class parcel with no tracking. I know from the customs label the item left the US so I have to blame either the Royal Mail or a possibly scamming buyer. On my purchases, I did have one book I ordered never show up. Seller shipped it Media Mail with no tracking. Seller eventually refunded me.

Thank you,
That's a very creative suggestion. Because of high value items shipped, I don't have such luxury. I will be glad to pay insurance, covering for loss or damage, so I could assure Buyers of premium service. Plus, I don't want to entangle myself in any coverage and have the benefits of third-party oversight

Throw a little change in the kitty for self insuring low cost items. Buy insurance from DSI or U-PIC. EASY peasy and much cheaper. Ship it with tracking and go online and insure it. Theyll want the tracking number. You'll need a debit or credit card.

If it's this easy, which it is, I wonder why eBay wouldn't do it for Sellers!? At the end, we're eBay's customers

eBay doesn't sell shipping insurance. You can use the carrier's insurance or ShipCover. Have read too many horror stories on ShipCover, I always use the carrier's own.

Once you purchase shipping with insurance via your eBay account paying by your 'Payouts', eBay is the 'Selling' agent. At point of purchase, eBay is the insurance salesman, giving you options of buying from original carrier or third party
Currently, there're two options for insurance coverage. I am asking for more than two options. Or one option at more reasonably priced. Original carrier insurance coverage has been high for a long time and they don't cover all items, most of the times.
There are other options for insurance coverage for much less than the third party alternative, eBay provides. eBay sells expensive insurance at their selling point as an alternative. I want to see if I could keep my costs down
I know there are insurance companies out there, willing to provide eBay community with reasonably priced insurance coverage. eBay needs to look into them to keep our cost down

The USPS Rates Shown here on ebay are exactly what they are at USPS online or USPS in person. Shipcover is a bit lower; but I would not trust any other insurance besides USPS if I really needed/wanted to do it.
USPS Cost $5.05 for a $267 package (1.9%) (Shipcover is $4.26 (1.6%))
USPS Cost on USPS Website: $5.05 for $267 package (1.9%)
USPS Cost on USPS Website for $2670 Package; $42.90 (1.6%)
What are the other 'places' charging for WHO to cover?

I’ve had two packages that I insured that were damaged. One was UPS and the other USPS. Neither of them actually reimbursed me for damages. I haven’t heard of many people who have even won an insurance claim.

I am sure, I can't name names if I want this post running. So, please don't ask that question because I am sure, I am not allowed to answer with names
But, it's a fair question. Being in Jewelry Industry, insurance is a must have and not an option. I can't sell a $10K Rolex watch and pay shipping insurance of $175 and make profit. Some do, but I don't
As I said, there are other options available by private companies. Don't underestimate some of the big names. They payoff exact, on time and without hassle. Few are much better than USPS at paperwork

@ainpie-10 especially USPS, they run you around for months

Insurance doesn't provide any service for buyers. It is for seller benefit. Buyers don't need it because they are covered by eBay and their payment processor if anything goes wrong.
In my opinion, sellers who try to tell buyers that insurance is a premium service for them are either naive or intentionally misleading.

It is unreasonable to expect eBay to do everything for you. If you know all about these other insurance providers already, then step up and use them. Stop waiting for someone else to do it for you.

It's okay if you feel that way, next time you've a package lost or damaged, you'll know
All those burned down businesses with insurance got paid last summer. I got paid fully through insurance a month ago for a damaged clock with eBay's help. I am not going to go through health insurance ... Living is U S, one needs to be insured or pay when accidents happen
I am just suggesting eBay to provide services available for all, outside eBay. If you think asking is too much, so be it
If you don't believe is insurance, your message is loud and clear

If I'm the buyer, I won't care, because I'll be getting a full refund from you regardless of what insurance you have, or even if you have no insurance at all.

I think Buyers care. They wouldn't want to take any chances. As a Buyer, I want my few thousand dollar item insured.
Next time you buy some luxury item, let the Seller know, you don't want it insured. A $3.49 first class envelop will do!
