I insure all my packages. Insurance cost is very high on eBay postage options in compared to other sites. Hope, eBay corrects this issue before Christmas season

Next time you buy some luxury item, let the Seller know, you don't want it insured. A $3.49 first class envelop will do!
The buyer is always insured with a very liberal policy that is low hassle and requires little to no paperwork ... the insurance is called the "eBay Money Back Guarantee".

Not if you have a 'no return policy' which eliminates all reasons but lNAD
It's a magical feeling when packages never get lost once insured

LOL. You've never heard of the "Item not received" complaint? You seriously think you can drop something in the mail, have it not get to the buyer, and get to keep the money?
Your "no return" policy is irrelevant if the buyer never gets the item. You are seriously and dangerously misinformed.

The eBay Money Back Guarantee covers lost packages ... it doesn't matter if there is a "no return policy" or not, and it doesn't matter if the seller purchases shipping insurance or not.

Here is the eBay Money Back Guarantee Policy [click me] ... and here is the text within the policy:
eBay Money Back Guarantee applies when:
So, if an item is lost by the shipper, all the buyer needs to do is file with eBay to get their money back (the seller pays for this) ... on eBay, that's the reason why insurance is only for the benefit of the seller.

Great, how about Seller? If item isn't insured and package gets lost, what happens to Seller?
Buyer will not see that product for ever, however, Buyer will be fully compensated. Works perfect for run of the mill products but not for one of a kind pieces, especially antiques

There is no coverage but insurance for anytime Buyers want to keep the damaged item and get compensated for the damage, that's proven here
In MBG, item has to go back to Seller in any condition. Seller could offer a partial refund without being anything out of pocket. It works perfect for antique pieces which Buyer want to keep, however, dinged.
Item gets damage in shipping, Buyer could file for damage, first words, item is insured. Buyer can skip the MBG, file an insurance claim. Keep item and get compensation for damage
Item gets stolen or misplaced at point of delivery. If tracking shows item delivered, MBG program provides no protection. Any case will close in Seller's benefit. Insurance coverage is the only remedy
That's called premium service

The seller gives the money back to the buyer (or is forced to do so by eBay). How do you not already know this?

If the item is damaged in shipping, the seller can file an insurance claim. They will need to get the buyer to cooperate with the claim.

eBay allows the seller to offer a partial refund to settle a "not as described case".

If the item is stolen after being delivered to the correct address, that's the buyer's problem. We all know that. We also know that insurance does not cover theft after delivery. You don't seem to understand any of this, but you sure have a lot to say about it.
That's called premium service
LOL

If an item is lost in transit and the seller has not insured it, then the seller reimburses the buyer ... and the loss is totally paid by the seller. Effectively, the MBG makes the seller an insurance company. Now, if the seller doesn't want to be the insurance company, then the seller needs to buy separate insurance.
My original reply to you was objecting to your suggestion that buyers cared about whether or not the seller bought insurance (or the "cheaper" insurance that is the subject of this thread). Buyer's have no need to care about separate insurance because the MBG gives them full-coverage, no-hassle insurance.

"If an item is lost in transit and the seller has not insured it, then the seller reimburses the buyer ..." WRONG
If tracking shows delivered to verified address on eBay files, Buyer has no case under MBG. Buyer has lost money and merchandise. On this particular case "...the loss is totally" IS NOT "paid by the seller." or anyone else
My Buyers care and want insurance, apparently yours don't and probably, you don't care to provide your Buyers with this service. Fine!
I do care. I would like to have a cheaper insurance coverage provided by eBay. Just like same provided by their competitors

Insurance covers for lost & stolen from point A to point B regardless
Obviously, you never insured anything or you ever will, so why do you care if eBay provides cheaper insurance or not?! I am asking for a service, you don't use

An item that is lost in transit will not have tracking that shows delivered ... because ... well, because it is lost. A buyer can file an Item Not Received case and the buyer will be reimbursed by the seller.
The statement you quoted of mine (and commented "WRONG") is not wrong ... it is correct and is plainly stated in eBay Policy. You are welcome to show me eBay policy that contradicts the eBay policy I referenced.

Yes, insurance covers from point A to point B. Once it reaches point B, it’s DELIVERED (seriously, isn’t this obvious?), and insurance no longer covers loss; it will only cover damage that occurred in transit.
It’s mind-blowing how many people come to these forums, insist on showing the world how little they know, and then double down when experienced ebayers tell them how things actually work.
