Hi! First time post here. Today, I received a notice from eBay that FedEx adjusted a package cost. It’s a very small, 1lb package, but the billable weight is 26lbs!!! eBay just charged my credit card for $35 which is ridiculous.
Clearly this is a mistake. Did any of you experience the same? Should I reach out to eBay CS or FedEx?

You've probably been hit with one or more of the several dozen notorious FedEx surcharges. As far as I know you need to contact FedEx directly for any chance of resolution (unless this is an eBay glitch, which happens on occasion).
You can read about the surcharges ... click on the FedEx link at the bottom of this ⬇️ page:

Hi @spacexm-adv . Before going down the path of how to dispute, let's diagnose what happened and see what the charge is for. That way we can tell you either a) what info to take to CS with the dispute for the best outcome, if applicable, or b) what happened with the package that may have been on your end that will fail a dispute but can be prevented in the future.
There are many surcharges with UPS and FedEx that are not factored in until the carrier physically reviews the package as eBay's shipping calculator does not currently have a way to factor in non-standard packaging.
In order to help you determine if your charge was legit or in error (and how to appeal), view the label details and expand the section on the bottom right that says see cost breakdown (highlighted below in green). Black out order #, tracking #, and buyer ID and post a screenshot.
Please also provide a physical description of the package (box, bag, tube, box with handle, etc).
Read more in the FedEx Guide - start on page 126:

You can find guides for all carriers on eBay Seller Center under "preventing shipping label price adjustments."

Right next to
I shipped package 35 lbs $ 42.16
Received email this am stating the item is infact
35.10 lbs
Additional charges $35.53
Are you kidding me?
when I did it on eBay for 35 and 36 lbs
the difference is $1.16 not $35.53
and of course, the glorious help support, kept on repeating the same hting over and over
Has anybody actually had any success with speaking to somebody who understands and is able to fix this??

Thank you! This is the screenshot of the cost breakdown
it’s just a regular small box and the dimension is correct. I weighted the item and package and it was 15.8 oz.

Thanks for providing that @spacexm-adv - the only adjustment is the actual weight (not just billable weight which can be impacted by dimensions).
That tells us your package was likely piggybacking on another when the machine scanned it.
At this point you need to contact eBay CS and ask them to dispute the charge as it was applied in error. You can go through the help & contact page and work through all the automated prompts to get to an agent, or you can send a DM to one of eBay's social CS teams: ebay on facebook, ebayforsellers on insta, askebay on X
