eBay claims Buyer requested Ground Advantage, when I had Economy Shipping listed on a book I listed.

I have a shipping question for the Community.... I recently sold a book and offered FREE SHIPPING.... The book sold and when the order details calme in it said..... "The customer requester Ground Advantage."

i know I wouldn't offer Ground Advantage on a $15.00 book, that I'm making only twelve dollars and change on, and  I know I put down Economy Shipping.... Can Buyers specify which shipping they want, or does eBay change this internally?

i HAVE NEVER ORDER SHIPPING LABELS THROUGH EBAY.

I know that Ground Advantage offers $100.00 of insurance, and the opportunity to have a tracking number, but I have never had a package get lost or damaged in the mail.

Another question.... I noticed that some sellers state that they "WILL NOT SELL TO A P.O. BOX NUMBER. I have sold to buyers that have box numbers, and have never experienced an issue. Is the a NEW PHENOMENON? This particular book sale I'd going to a box number.

thank you for any help you can give me...

 You must be pretty young?

Long ago before the internet scams to rip you off it was P.O. Boxes that were highly seceptable to schemes to rip you off.  Besides these schemes, if a sellers primary method of shipping is not thru the USPS then they could not send something to a P.O. Box and would need a physcial address.  Sellers who choose not to send to P.O. Boxes have a option in eBay to select that will not allow someone using a P.O. Box to order from them.

The USPS may not be the cheapest delivery method for a large company.  They get bigger discounts based on the volumn of items being sent.

I see where you recently sold a $15 book that you have Free Expedited Shipping (USPS Priority Mail).  You are fortunate that the buyer requested Ground Advantage.

Is this the book you are talking about?

I looked at one of your current listings TRAP SHOOTING RULES OF THE AMERICAN TRAP SHOOTING ASSOCIATION JAN 7TH, 1890 and you have US $5.70 Standard Shipping (Ground Advantage) on this one.

You can not change the shipping on this one because there is a Bid on it.

You do have this one set up as US $3.92 Economy Shipping (USPS Media Mail).

Oh wow, then I must be pretty young!  But I remember getting the P.O. Box rip off several times starting around 1979 with my first one being a carbuarator I ordered from a popular auto parts magazine.

Its an ongoing thing, of course EBay wasn't around in the 70s ... OP goofed in another thread claiming to be on EBay in the 70s but of course the internet wasnt a thing then. OP then wrote an apology thread on the board for the mix up. I just found your "young" comment funny in that context.

I'm young so I have no clue about the PO Box schemes... but today PO Boxes are probably the most secure shipping destinations and thank god for them.

Because you advertised Priority Mail.  If the buyer pushed the issue and insisted on Priority Mail then the shipping would have been much more.  I suspect that book would have weighed between one and two pounds.

@tamarackcove stephen already posted a screenshot of the $15 book you sold. The listed shipping was PRIORITY MAIL. You did not have it set for Economy shipping. You had it set for Expedited. @stephenmorgan called you fortunate for getting stuck with Ground Advantage and not $$PRIORITY$$ as you had it listed. So you got off easy.

Stephen then pointed out another listing of yours where you do not have economy shipping listed. You have not listed economy (like you think you have) in multiple situations.

Coin Man....... Are you going to "beat that dead horse" some more? I mention in that first post that I was sold on eBay back in the 70's, and then in my Mea Cuba post mentioned that my 80 year old brain that the 70's seemed like yesterday.

Give up the sarcasm! I taught school for over 44 years, and know how to deal with a bully... eBay should give you a "Time Out"!

I'm not coin man, that's someone else.

..... I made the joke. Then and only then, I felt I may need to explain it as Stephen may not have seen your previous threads and wouldn't understand the comment.

I'll say that it's sad that you see that comment, and me, as rising to the level of being a "bully".

Ok, sorry if i mentioned the wrong book.

But if you can post the book you are talking about where "The customer requester Ground Advantage" or the item number then maybe it is possible to see what went wrong with the shipping.

Did you already send the book?  If so what shipping did you use?
