eBay Shipping Labels vs USPS

Is anyone else having an issue with the ebay labels that you ship through USPS? A lot of my packages are being delivered to my customers with "postage due". I put the right weight/dimensions. Did USPS maybe raise their prices and it not be reflected on eBay labels?  I also called USPS and eBay did not pay USPS what I paid for the label.

Re: eBay Shipping Labels vs USPS

No.  I haven't had a postage due requirement since back when I first started selling and made mistakes.

I only had UPS once hit with a surcharge, but fortunately it was a small amount.

I would never discuss with USPS what you pay for the label.  eBay has a negotiated rate that is a lot lower than what USPS would charge at the counter.

Also make sure you don't put what you paid for the shipping on the label!  There is an option for that (a checkbox), but never use it!  That could be calling attention to USPS of the rate difference on your packages and flagging them for this charge you are getting.

@qcsuperstore

I am not having this trouble.

Are you by any chance using Priority Mail boxes but using a Ground Advantage label?

The red and white boxes are only for the more expensive priority service.

Re: eBay Shipping Labels vs USPS

Deliveries with "Postage Due" are very rare nowadays, since USPS installed special equipment at their sorting centers which weighs and measures packages and will automatically bill the sender if postage is underpaid (or credit them if there's an overpayment).

As noted in the other post, one reason for underpayment would be invalid use of a Priority Mail special box. Another would be misuse of Media Mail postage for an ineligible item; this isn't detected by the machinery but might be noticed at your buyers' local Post Offices.

Can you give us a specific example, including package weight and dimensions; both ZIP Codes; service used (Ground Advantage?); the amount you paid for the label; and the amount of postage that was due.

Another possibility is that your buyers are lying. Have they provided proof of the Postage Due situation, such as an image of the package or of a notice from the PO?

@qcsuperstore

Please give a couple of examples. What are the weights and measurements of the packages, what service did you use, and how much are they charging as postage due.

Re: eBay Shipping Labels vs USPS

Lets us know exactly what you are doing....when you say "a lot" something is wrong.  These are all USPS postage items dropped off at the USPS, you're not dropping off any Fedex postage package with USPS are you?
