Did you mean:

eBay Ship Rip-off

So apparently eBay wants you to use their international shipping program.

However, if they lose your item or damage it, they don’t credit the shipping charges.

They refer you to a third party insurance company which will only allow you to open the claim for the actual value of the item.

If you try to contact eBay to get the shipping charges credit (which often are hefty), you will get some of the rudest customer service reps who will basically tell you screw you, you have to eat the loss.

Re: eBay Ship Rip-off

That is how shipping insurance works especially when it's third-party. This is NOT an "eBay thing".

Re: eBay Ship Rip-off

I think you may have some mis-information.

When shipping via ebay's GSP, once the package reaches their hub in KY, you in the clear.

If the package is lost, stolen or damaged after that, it's ebay's responsibility.

Re: eBay Ship Rip-off

I will never buy an item with the international shipping program. It is faster than GSP but more than twice the price.

NOT GSP.  Talking International Standard Shipping via eBay.

Re: eBay Ship Rip-off

What kind of shipping charge credit would you be expecting?  The buyer pays the GPS shipping charges, not you.

@ironcobra40

The OP is referring to International Standard Shipping also floats through PB. Item starts in USPS and gets handed off to DHL or another. Customs processing/taxes  are applied at time of delivery when applicable. In some cases after it passes thru DHL's hands it "may" get passed off to Canadpost.

Re: eBay Ship Rip-off

USPS, for domestic insured shipping, also does not refund the shipping costs in cases of damage. Would not expect it for foreign shipping via eBay international, but would expect to be refunded if lost.

Re: eBay Ship Rip-off

I get the value of the item from the insurance company, I understand that.

But eBay should refund the shipping cost if they lose the item or the item is damaged like any other shipper.

When I file a claim with FedEx, UPS, DHL or even USPS I get the value of the item in addition to the shipping cost.

eBay intentionally left this area gray.

Re: eBay Ship Rip-off

They package was in their possession, it was scanned to container, shipped in route to the destination country when the tracking stopped (the whole shmiel).

Yet, eBay is refusing to accept any responsibility for losing it, and reimbursing the shipping cost which is not cheap.

No sir, I pay it.

I don’t charge my buyers the cost of shipping.

Re: eBay Ship Rip-off

They actually do, I have multiple experiences with USPS where I ship priority mail, if the item is damaged and I file a claim I get both the value of the item and the cost of shipping.

Nevertheless, this not the issue here.

Re: eBay Ship Rip-off

My claim after shipping back to seller was tampered with, then i  complained to ebay and nothing was done, $499 plus shipping of close to $300 plus. I also have evidence of the condition of the item before it left me. Ebay supports rip off companies and lets them operate under their banner. should be exposed world wide.
