So I have 3 items that I listed and sold but did not use ebay labels. I of these items, the buyer actually picked up from me, so obviously didn't ship therefore couldn't up load tracking for that one. I even had buyer pick up as an option in my listing as well as free shipping but somehow still got a bad mark for not uploading tracking!!!! You can't track something you didn't ship!! On the other 2 items, (same buyer, combined items, shipped together) I decided to ship with stamps because the items were so light in weight, it made no sense to spend over $4 to ship 2 ounces, but that was the least expensive option for a label thru ebay. These items together total value was about $12 with free shipping so now if I pay the $4 to $6 shipping and then ebay fees, I make next to nothing on the items. To ship those same items with stamps was about $1.50. That said, my biggest issue for these 2 items was more that ebay got me for 2 more "no uploads" of tracking info on items that were shipped together to the same buyer!! So even that purchase should only be one "no upload" of tracking info. Contacted ebay 3 separate times asking for an explanation as well as a correction but they refuse and keep sending me back to their selling policies, but no where does it say that it is mandatory to have tracking numbers with every sale or it will affect your seller rating!! NOWHERE!! Anyone have any advice? Or can anyone at least show me ebay policy about basically being punished for not using tracking? I have seriously considered contacting an attorney just for the point of it now. When you list as a top seller, there are more discounts and benefits then a above average seller ,so technically, I lose money every time I list as a above average seller when I should be a top seller.

Yes, seriously!! I was asking for help on this, not negative comments. Your response was in no way helpful. I've been a member since 2006 but rarely sell and even when I do, its just to make some money back on things I no longer have use for or occasionally yard sale swap meet finds. I'm not a business, but recently started to pay more attention to fees and shipping. Obviously you know so much more than I do and I'm sure you've heard the old saying "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" Lets do that then.

For the pick up item you should have asked the buyer for the QR code that eBay sent them and uploaded that into the tracking details - this proves collection of the item rather than delivery.
As to the defects and your account being below standard that usually only happens if you have cases opened by a buyer that you have not responded to and eBay has had to step in.
Check your seller dashboard to see what the defects were actually for.

It's right there in your Seller Dashboard | eBay
In order to be Top Rated you must have tracking uploaded and vailidated within the handling time you applied to your listings.
For this requirement, we look at your transactions during the past 3 months. To be a Top Rated Seller, 95.00% of your transactions must have tracking uploaded within your stated handling time, in addition to receiving a carrier scan.
It's Also in the Seller performance standards | eBay

Seriously - you've been here since 2006 and you didn't know any of this?

Yes I started reading alot more into selling requirements and did see that. Even with that, my problem still is, 1 of the items in question was never even shipped. The buyer came and picked it up, I had that option in my listing. Cant track something that wasn't shipped, ebay knows this and still would not fix it. The only other 2 items I've sold without tracking were shipped with stamps, these items went to the same buyer, he bought both items and I shipped together. So at the very least, this transaction should only have 1 "no tracking validation". This listing was free shipping, buyer got his items early and was very happy with purchase. So, all in I should at most only have 1 mark for not using tracking, that is my biggest issue. Sorry for long winded post and appreciate your response to me.

I did that and dont have any defects at all come up. I contacted ebay as well as buyer. The buyer mistakenly selected usps as shipper even though he picked up. Ebay knows this, thru me as well as thru the buyer and they still wont change my ranking. They know the buyer made the mistake, they know he got his item, they know he picked it up. I've been on the phone 4 times about this with no satifaction.

You are not being "punished".
Without tracking at a set %age you just do not meet the requirements to be "top rated" which is a "perk".
Many sellers are at, always have been at, always will be at, the "above standard" level which is a good rating.
Not much of a benefit to being "top rated". A little eBay discount (~3%) for Priority labels, but not much else.

Don't worry about it---nothing wrong with being above standard. You just don't want to be below standard.
